The two are mounted completely different I don’t see how you can’t notice that even as a non mechanical engineer.

1. The mounting plane by itself is irrelevant since in shear you’re only worried about the relative angle between bolt shaft and applied load. If the angle is 0 you have pure tension / compression, otherwise you have some shear. If you were referring to the Autoselect bar and the ‘hinge’ bolts, they’re still in shear. I don’t see how you can’t notice that even being the ever so almighty Ahmed.
