world band means you can use it anywhere.

If you want local rates in europe, just buy a prepaid SIM card and dial away.

If you want your subscriber rates in the us, just use your US sim card.

I’ve used a tmobile sim card in a phone that was only available in japan, it worked fine.

what kind of phone is it? that makes all the difference.

the guy that sits next to me at work gets his phones from Europe and unlocks them for Cingular, I’ll ask him if he gets on how he does it.

My last phone was shipped over from Germany and it worked fine put the SIM in and go. And the phone I have now was shipped over from Hong Kong and it worked the same slapped the sim in and went on my way.

Make sure it’s a quad band and not a tri band. Link doesn’t work.

Model and firmware version is needed to unlock phones, not just the manufacturer
