How much would it cost to have this bike running good again? Im looking for a starter bike and this looks like it may work.

well, mechanical madness said he would help out. When i was looking into it, my local shop wanted $100 for the diphragm kit, and 65$ per carb to rebuild, including labor. If he can help out i bet you can have it done for well under $200
With that said, no jay, i’m sorry $1000 is not enough. This bike in good running condition is worth close to 3k. I have an offer of $1100 that i refused as well. I will take $1350 (which is way less than i should sell it for, should be more around $1800 or so) or i will trade for an equivelent or slightly more expensive project car/truck. I’m really leaning towards a trade right now if i can get an interesting one.
I think you are a bit high for a bike that doesn’t run well. For all we know it could have valve train problems, or something worse… Just keep in mind that the buyer is taking a risk.
Not unless it was beat to crap and run on the sidestand for a few days. Valves on bikes tend not to go too often provided the bikes are cared for and the bike is given sufficient time to cool down after a spirited ride (10k and up).

that being said, you will take $1350 for the bike as it is, but if you put $200 into it, it will be worth $3k? sounds like you would be retarded to not sink $200 into this to net an extra $1500 or so…
I’m dont have the ability to fix it myslef. Wife wont let me keep it and ride it and i just dont want to deal with it. I said upwards of 3k, but realistically it will be worth $2500 or so when completed. It needs the carbs rebuilt, it needs all plastics secured( there just sitting on it right now). I really wanted $1500 for it, but if someone had $1350 cash or something cool to trade i would do it.
It is but i am working as hard as i can to trade it for a del sol or integra project. i dont even care if it has a motor at this point. I just want a clean shell. in a few weeks, i’ll start accepting cash.

I have been wanting to learn more about body work, and i thought it would be a fun winter project for me and my dad.

Just take my cash and add it to whatever else you had.
$1500 cash + extra$$ = $1500 bike + extra$$
But with your trade thing in mind when I go to the car auction tuesday ill keep my eye out for a clean del sol - integra what years you looking for?
[/quote]
any year del sol, and 94+ integra. preferably manual but i guess beggers cant be choosers. I have no preference in color, as a 10 - 13 year old car will probably need some body workd and paint.
price is kinda high. for double that you can pick up a 15k mile r6 99-00 ish. But glws or trade

Exactly like you said, DOUBLE THAT. Put $200 to $300 into this bike and you have a clean, reliable bike for far less than the r6’s you speak of. And every “99-00 r6 w 15k for $3000 ish” that i have found has been wrecked and has a salvage title.

Most kids with r6’s cant ride them anyway.
Plus I agree with what twoslow said. Thats allways the case. Simple economics for some reason allways take a back seat to the newest HYPE
