URGENT: Whats wrong with my car??

Hey guys,

I recently avoided an accident on the highway. Someone slowed down in front of me, I was slow to realize, I quickly slammed on the brakes and pulled hard to the right in the open lane next to me. I noticed when doing this, as I returned the wheel from the right to the centre postion my car felt as though it the car turned left slightly then right slightly and then it started driving straight on again. I’ve noticed when drive faster then 60km when ever I drive the wheel quickly left or right it does feels as though the car does swirves a little before returned to straight again. Does anyone know what this could be?

Seized brake?
Or
If your talking about the rear end sliding out a bit, I would get an alignment

Might have damaged something in the front end… Wiggle the front tires, side to side and top to bottom, and climb under and make sure nothing happened…

Well I know its not a seized brake, that’s for sure. I jacked up the car, and wiggled the front tires. They seem fine, I replaced the tie rods last year, and they still look fine to me. I have needed an alignment for a while which I have plans to do tomorrow. I just wanted to make sure and double check everything, to make sure I’m not getting an alignment when I it seems like I’ve messed something up that may require an alignment after fixing. Any other ideas?

it could be possible you blew a shock or both front shocks, bounce the car see if it bounces alot, with good shocks you bounce it hard once and its stops as soon as it gets back to stock height. your car might be swirving cause the front end is going from side to side

You have a 240sx… They are rittled with problems…

check ur sway bar end links if u threw the car hard at that speed when it loaded up it coulda been enough weight to brake ur old rusted end links not a big deal easy to fix u could do it in ur driveway prolly i took one off with out even take the wheel off or jacking the car up i would check that its really easy to see

Thats no excuse, a cars a car, and it should function to proper performance.

Does the rear end feel loose at all when you wiggle the wheel while driving?

if you’re taking it for an alignment anyway, just tell them what happened and ask them to thoroughly check your front end components while it’s in the air, they shouldn’t have a problem with it.

maybe offer a coffee to the guy doing your car in return for a careful check over.

as long as it’s a reputable place, they should be able to spot the problem for you.

good luck.

stock ride height? lol

I’ll make sure tomorrow to have them check it out before doing the alignment. Afterwards I’ll check the sway bar end links. If the end links are shot, what do you guys suggest is a good replacement? I just want replacement to last and work as well or better then what was there.

Yes it is all stock suspension.

hicas

Tie rods, ball joints.

Thats my guess.

wicked tuning tie rods?

jake, check your t/c rods up front…play in the front end while braking and t/c rod play go hand in hand usually and are common things to go on these cars. it’s usually the bushing of the t/c rod that’s shot because it’s preloaded (depending on your car’s alignment) and this adds a lot of twist to that rubber bushing. just jack your front end up and have a look at the bushings at the tension rod braces

oh yeah btw, does your steering wheel efforts feel inconsistent CW vs CCW? your steering return should feel funny as well and i guess this goes along with your weird straightening out problem.
