Verizon FIOS Question

Anybody know if there is a way to use FIOS on a TV that does not have a set-top box? I have FIOS at my house and have a DVR in the living room and a regular HD box in the basement. I was hoping to also have TV in my bedroom and figured I would just be able to plug the cable into the TV and it would work. When I was growing up, all you had to do was plug the cable into the TV and it would work without the box, you just wouldn’t get the interactive menus and stuff. Do I have to use a box now?

When I was still working in the Fios group at VZ (Feb '09) you needed a box for each tv.

From what I remember with Fios, it has to have a box. Even if there is a multi-room dvr, it needs another box to project to. Very few cable providers now let you get away with just plugging the cable in

it’s because it’s not a standard analog signal, so your TV doesn’t know what to do with it… won’t work.

Another over hyped piece of shit.

Internet, watch what you want and pays for itself. bootlegs and commercial free showsbroadcast to tv = win

Verizon < Comcast

You don’t need their box but you do need a box. You can use an aftermarket cable box but wont be able to get the premium channels. It must be a qam tuner.

if your tv is newer (ie hd). and has a built in qam tuner, you can get ~20 channels, you have to do a tuner search. if it doesn’t have a built in tuner, you can get a dct700 (digital converter box) it’s like 3.99/month, no guide or on demand, but you do get every channel
