Vibration... sometimes.

I would rotate, but my fear is that the cupping is much more noticeable in the rear and if I bring those up front I don’t want it to get even worse. It’s less than enjoyable rotating tires or doing any type of work on the ground when you have a stone driveway :expressionless:

Are you available on weekdays? I work in tonawanda near Praxair… (Sheridan/military) I can swing by then!

So Dunn’s alignment system is rather inaccurate you’re saying? Because it’s within tolerance for them… I wouldn’t have thought they’d do a crappy job and then give you a sheet to prove they did a crappy job. I figured if it’s OK on the sheet it’s OK by industry standards.
What about them aligning it to a 15" Wheel when I have a 16"? Is that going to make a difference?

No it’s not the machine. It’s the guy who aligned it didn’t give a fuck and figures green means fine. I work 60 hrs a week.I will be there everyday but wed in the am and Thursday. Pm me ill get you the address

Haha, I remember the guy at the counter saying “As you can see everything is in the green so now you’re good to go”
PM inc.

shifted belt or worn suspension parts. take it to nitroinsane and he will get you squared away.

Sounds like tires to me. Cheap tires (no offense) that are that old and cupped and you have a vibration issue…

Nitro, please respond to your PMs :frowning: If you don’t want to take a look, let me know so I can get another person to look in to it.

However, since you guys were so amazingly helpful here’s another one.
I just drove the girl’s parents out to Rochester (williamson) so they can pick up their new truck, about 180mi round trip.
I about a mile from my house, maybe a half mile… and I start to hear a sound as if a brake pad is rubbing.
So I check the tires, see if I see anything odd. The front driver side, the rotor is HOT. the caliper is HOT, and the entire rim is HOT HOT HOT. I wouldn’t be so concerned, but all 3 other wheels and caliper are only slightly warm… and the rotors are obviously much warmer than the caliper/rims on those 3… The actual tire itself is also very warm compared to the others.

The rotor actually looks discolored, as in overheated… a lot. But I find that strange because it must’ve been at least a few hundred degrees to discolor to a blue hue.

Guessing your brake pad was sticking? Could be the caliper slider pins and/or pad brackets locking the pad in place against the rotor.

Seized caliper not releasing. Replace. May have warped the rotor and cooked the pads. Possible replacement.

There is a possibility that the rubber line going from your brake hardline to the caliper has deteriorated and became a sort of one way valve, it will let brake fluid in but not out.

This happened on my datsun, i changed the entire front brake assembly before those two damn 8$ hoses… take it for a drive and get the brakes fluid warm, and if you have a laser thermometer check the temps on all 4 wheels.

if you have a warped rotor from the caliper sticking it would create the vibrations you would be having, especially since it only will really happen after its warmed up / been sitting all night.

replace the caliper, super easy job and they are usually less than $50 with a core return. There is a chance it could be the lines or something but its very likely the caliper. This could very well explain your vibration problem too. You’ll also probably find that the pads are worn uneven and so they should be replaced and obviously the rotor too.

Replace caliper, rotor, pads.

If it was me I’d do both front rotors and pads all at the same time. I wouldn’t bother replacing the other caliper unless it shows signs of sticking.

^^What he said.
