Vid Card Problems?

I’ve been having a strange issue lately. I assumed it was because my PC wasn’t up to snuff for BF2/FEAR, but it happened when I loaded up CS the other day too.

During game play some times the textures will turn off, things like guys, or guns or whatever will dissapear. Sometimes it gets all crazy colored pixelated stuff.

It’ll usually work fine for a while, then go kaput.

Loaded up CSS which always ran fine for me and had the same problem. Updated my drivers a few times to no avail. Is it crapping out on me? Over heating?

overheating, or its dying.

check the fan on it, make sure its not dusty and shit like that.

i assume your not OCing it?

yeah, it definately sounds like it is overheating.

what card?
i picked up a thermaltake cooler and could get another 50+ mhz out of the core and mem, while getting rid of that stuff at the same time.

9800 Pro, about a year old, not overclocked.

I’ll have to check and make sure the fan is working. Any free software out there to monitor the temps/fans on VCs?

def over heating i bet. try to get one of those pci fan cards … they work great… have run running with my 6800gt and it runs 10-5 degrees cooler

usually the VC software has a monitoring feature built into it, i know my nvidias do, not sure about ATI tho.

yea but there are better ones out there… i got a duel fan one for like 14$ i think. but it will def make your comptuer hum so be ready for it haha. i feel like i live in mission control in my room from all the humming and lights
