those dont count … their 2 strokes … lol
BDR, everything you’ve posted is over $3500 LOL. my title is “smokin deals”. That said, those are all quality machines…I’d love to eventually get my hands on a KZ1000 for sure, those things have so many go-fast parts still available it would be pretty easy to make one of those things a gnarly ride. I also tend to assume the types of people looking to buy/build a $1000 bike (give or take) are doing it for a first bike or a secondary/fun project rather than worrying about getting something FAST and top-dollar.
Haha, Fuuuuuuuuu! That was already incorporated with one of my track passes when I had the teg. Look up Gennaro speaks Italian, lol.
i was just posting random nice finds … ive been looking for another old school for a while … my first bike was a suzuki gs1150 … now im looking for a cb900f or 1100 but if one falls in my lap … i would LOVE to own a cbx or kz1300 … if i didnt already have a bike payment i would own a brand new cb1100
the new cb1100 is a pretty awesome bike, I’ve seen a few retro-styled cafe jobs on them and I LOVE them.
you serious about a cb900f??

I forget what you said the other day as far as what your budget is.
^ that bike looks super nice. almost too nice to pay that kind of money just to cut up.
If you build a +6k vintage bike to be fast, you’re silly.
@ 6k any new FI bike is going to destroy that old tech, in handling, accel, aero, weight, economy, reliability, etc.
I could never imagine paying more than 3k for a vintage anything, unless it was a very rare bike. Lastly speed and displacement would NEVER be a factor
that list of factors would never be the reasoning for making a vintage bike fast. I’ve probably got near $3500 into mine with how many times I’ve changed (and continue to change) things. Every year I spend about $500 on a couple parts to revamp it and get it closer to my end goal/dream-build. by the time I’m “done” I’m fairly certain I’ll have about $5-6k into it total, from original purchase price all the way through the three different motors I’ll have put in it by then…it will have modern suspension, modern brakes, and a crazy hybrid powerplant. The point is not to be as good or better than a “new” bike…it’s to do something different, something CLOSE to “new bike” capability, all while retaining that vintage style/look/feel. The fun and pride comes from the build/fabrication/wrenching, not from handing over your cash to get a bike more capable than I’d ever need.

1980 Suzuki GS850G - $1200

well-cared for example…def. someone’s cruiser as it has the windjammer fairing and some other “comfort” parts on it…
I don’t think anyone is trying to make a vintage/older bike “fast” maybe make it more peppy per say but not FAST. I took Nick’s bike for a spin last year and it was slow as balls, granted not sure if it was at full potential or not but it was horrible. Anything that makes it get up to speed a tad faster/quicker would be a night and day difference. After all, these aren’t sick fast “sport bikes” that do mad whooliesss and end up cutting cars in half on maple rd.
It was more addressed for the but a real bike comments, and half of the ebay bikes with 10 in extended swing arms.
Don’t mind BDR he’s a tad confused as it also shows in his car choices lol.
 In that case I totally agree. It’s really a prefferance or nostalgia thing with some of those. The old stuff is “cool”, but obv. if you’re goal is to go FAST or have superb handling, those aren’t the bikes to purchase for those purposes specifically.
nope, that was def. after the rings were starting to create a lot of blowby and I had way heavier weight oil in it to try to stop the blowby and get some compression back. My motor is toast for sure. I was also (and still am) trying to get the jetting on the carbs correct.

someone’s forgotten bobber build 1980 GS550 $500
My father is looking for another vintage British or Italian bike.
60’s/70’s Triumphs, Ducatis, maybe Norton, etc. Not sure if he could swing things like Royal Enfield but let me know. He sold his MGB over winter, and my impression is that he did it for another bike (has a cool little Czech 125 Jawa 2-stroke right now). Please PM w/prospects
budget? there’s been a TON of vintage triumphs popping up for around $2500-3500 lately…
