WTB: late 60's to early 80's bike

Ive been toying with the idea of picking up a project bike for a while. Since im going to have ALOT of extra time this summer, I might as well pick one up pretty soon

What im looking at can be British, Japanese or American. I am looking for engine sizes around 600cc and up, as I would like to have the power to cruise at highway speeds.

What I would love would be something I could turn into the cafe racer look. Ideally something like this 72 Honda CB750

Anyways, I am looking to spend in the neighborhood of 0-1000 dollars. If you have one or know someone that has one id be much obliged if you let me know.

id worry about you.

72 CB 500 Four… make offer… runs very good shape… could use a tune…
72 CB 450 Twin with overhead cam… needs to be gone through… will run make offer… ill try to get some pics. and see what other bikes i got around… i got a shed full of old bikes from this era. ill see if i can dig something else up… i think i got a 69 360 to that runs.

werd, id be very interested also. older the better for me.

Can I come and look at these?

I stopped and looked at a 78 cx500 last week by my parents house for the same reason project wise. It started right up, sounded good, needed cosmetic work but other than that it was overall nice. I passed on it due to wanted a 4 but if you’re interested in a 2 this wouldnt be bad to check out.

It’s in West Seneca on Orchard Park road near Country Peddlers shop. The guy selling it is pretty chill too. Hes asking 1200 OBO, i pretty much talked him down to 800 so im sure you could take it away for that.

im looking for a rigid baobber project. so if anything like that is available please let me know.

got a 79 Suzuki 750GS 4 cyl. Needs voltage regulator and carb work, been sitting for a while

$500. In rochester

I have a 1976 Yamaha xs750, shaft driven, was going to do another cafe racer. Didn’t get too far because I have ADD and started on the Datsun again. Not much needed, damn good shape.Needs a new battery this year and air filter. I can sell you the cafe racer tail I’ve been selling on eBay for $125 (usually sell for $150) ready to paint. I have a clear title for the yamaha. Will sell it for $800

Here’s the current and completed cafe racer in the shop (started as a cb750 that was hacked to shit);

And the Yamaha that was slated for another cafe’ (identical to the one shown below).

Bike is in rochester, shoot me a pm if interested before I start hacking it apart

ill go tomorrow to my other house to see what i got over there. i know of at least 4 bikes… ill post pics tomarrow

My step-dad has a 1978 Honda CB750 K-Series bike with extremely low mileage, need a good going over as it’s been sitting for the past 10 years pretty much though. Very clean for the age though, still runs last I heard but the carbs will definitely need cleaned out, as well as new tires as the OEM ones has long since dry-rotted.

Was looking for $800 last I heard, can get more info if you wa

Just a FYI, a few people messaged me, the blue CB750 I posted is not for sale, just an example of the cafe racer we just completed. The Yamaha below is the one for sale, hand picked by me to do the next cafe racer, but I’m back to working on the Datsun and this will be on the back burner for a while.

josh u want to build a cafe racer or a chopper/bobber?

cafe > chopper/bobber

altho the JDM versions of either fucking rule.
