Fuck. Old. Bikes.

Also, fuck carbs.

?

Old bikes suck. Carbs also suck.

My GS750 ran good after everything went back together, did a heater and shut it off. Turned it back on and now it’s misfiring lol. Not sure why I do this to myself lol.

I was able to dial in the timing on the CB450 and i’ve had about 15-20 tanks through it. Doesnt leak a drop of oil.

Losing 2nd gear is another story, however.

Carbs are easy… now that i’ve had them apart 12936123 times.

Right, they are easy it’s just annoying messing with the stock airbox that is a PITA. I’ll just remove it. Nick needs to post the weak heater vid.

I’d like to pick up some velocity stacks and re-jet the pig this winter, but I may just wait until I can find another 450 motor.

If anyone see’s one, let me know. I’d be able to have a friend store it in NY for me.

I’ve got a cb500t motor, will that work? extra displacement yo!

Gennaro’s bike was running great once we got the head redone and everything back together. I synced the carbs and wrestled the stock airbox back in and then he did a heater and cyl#2 stopped firing…def traced down to a carb issue. Waiting on new jets and pods to rebuild the carbs and try again.

fuck, photobucket vids don’t embed??

Weak, should’ve let me keep going ya jerk.

Once it’s up and running AGAIN, I’ll burn the tire off just for Mingle since it needs to be replaced anyways.

I believe the cb500t to be the same exact engine as the 450, but in 75 (the last year of the 450/500 twin) they bumped it up.

Compression ok? PM me a price.

1982 Yamaha Virago 920. $200

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/4265106749.html

if this has paperwork, this is stupid not to buy. I REALLY wanna build a cool cafe/brat out of one of these…who wants to commission me to do it! I have a BMW airhead tank and some XS850 mag wheels that would make this thing DOPE.

1977 Honda CB550 - $800

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/4269297946.html

says cb550f but it’s definitely not a supersport…just happens to have the supersport 4-1 header on it with a haggard muffler. headlight and speedo are obviously very simple fixes. would cafe EASY, especially with the seat and sidecover combo I have for sale from my orange bike…

50k miles, oof.

Wanted to chime in again on this bike…I went and looked at it personally for someone else, and I think it’s a VIN swap. The VIN tag is in fact for a 1977 supersport, BUT…the frames for supersports wouldn’t accommodate non-F model sidecovers, and this bike has 74-76 tins on it…that are purple…some scratches reveal that the color underneath is sunrise flake orange…not a supersport color, let alone the tank is wrong as well. I didn’t have a brass wire brush on me to check the carb rack for the 069A stamp on the exhaust side, so I don’t know if maybe it was a supersport drivetrain and exhaust/carbs swapped to an older frame and the VIN swapped…

either way, with some work it would be a very nice bike…I just don’t think much of it is “correct”

for $500, it’s worth buying and making something cool out of.

1982 Kawasaki KZ550 - $875

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/4269349383.html

this thing looks great for the price. I’ve dealt with JDvintagebikes before, decent guys over there…if this has a title it would be a really nice bike to just leave alone and cruise on.

^ I sent that to you Mr. KZ900/1100 only.

some Rochester bikes:

1972 Honda CB350 - $500

http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/4280826904.html

seat looks like a rookie attempt at best, needs wiring done (easy), but looks to have a 350f tank on it…which is sweet!

1978 Honda CB550 - Make Offer

http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/4255850903.html

hideous paint but rest looks in nice shape…would be a good buy in the $500-700 range

1979 Kawasaki KZ6750 - $850

http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/4255212664.html

this is huge for a twin cylinder bike. could be cool with some effort and imagination

1982 Kawasaki KZ550 - $600

http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/4274588911.html

pic is blurry, but for $600 if it’s a running/riding machine you can’t really go wrong.

1974 Honda CL450 - $600

http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/4274329048.html

what a gem! same as a cb450 just different tank/seat and the high pipes. swap a different tank and make a cool seat and this bike could be perfect!

1981 Kawasaki KZ550 - $500

http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/4260525596.html

looks great for the price

1979 Yamaha XS750 triple - $650

http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/4287430683.html

pretty great deal, these these have a TON of potential for ANY kind of build really. I have a chopper and a cafe version both in the shop right now, in addition to a stocker I might do as a bratstyle just to have one of each.

I have tons of spares for these too…and vast knowledge of the carbs on these and whatnot…
