Vista users - What are your favorite gadgets?

I’m looking for a bunch now… I like the CPU/RAM monitors… I have a couple running now and I’ll narrow it down to 1 after some use.
Weather.
Notepad.
Calendar.

You guys have anything cool?

I’m going to look for a program that will surf a directory and change my desktop, like a screen saver would… but the desktop itself. I never run a screen saver.

i turned that off it annoys me

I have a lot of real estate. For the first time in my life, I’m not maximizing all of my windows all of the time.

Its def nice having a 24’’ monitor or larger. It leaves room for all that stuff, but I still find all I keep open for resource purposes is AIM on the right side of the screen and firefox takes up the rest. I got over the coolness of the gadgets after the first couple weeks of vista.

Wireless network monitor, stock ticker, google search gadget, itunes remote

Stock ticker, cpu/memory usage and network monitor.

Other than that it annoys me and takes up space.

nothing on the desktop…Calendar and Sabres score on the laptop.

After a little time playing around…

CPU/RAM that came with it
Magic 8 ball… made me stay on until 2 this morning. It kept telling me to surf more porn.
Calc
2 more CPU/RAM dealies with the cores broken out. Just something to watch. Some processes rape one core and the other are just chilling…

Calendar
Notepad

I couldn’t read the damn gadgets, so I don’t have them.

hey, wheres the one with the cores broken down? I get sick of having to open speedfan

I’m new to vista, and just started playing with the sidebar today… this thread is good timing lol.
Currently:

Weather
Calender
Itunes
Gmail Checker
All CPU Meter (this one shows the cores, Treads4Heads)

Where are you guys getting your gadgets from? I haven’t bothered with them yet but this thread has me curious.

.

Umm…

Right click on the Sidebar.
Add gadgets.
Get Gadgets Online.
Then just go through whatever you want. There are several different CPU/RAM options out there, so get all of them and then find out which one you like most.

thanks for the info, my new laptop with vista 64 should be here tuesday…

My favorite Vista gadget was the ability of the hardware to support XP as well

Sorry… not a fan of Vista still.

1920x1200 on my 17" laptop and that gadget still annoys the shit out of me.

I just use SplitView to split up my monitor up into virtual screens so nothing is maximized. Other than that, Trillian and everything I am not working on is minimized.
