Voltage regulator

Hey son, I wanted to know if the voltage regulator on the s13 sr20 located on the outside of the alternator or whether it’s mounted on the inside. Reason for asking is beacuse i think mine crapped out on me, the alternator overcharges the battery and i keep getting 16 volts which is too high. And if it is mounted on the inside where would i be able to find another one? Or should i just get another alternator.

Thanks in advance.

What tests have you run? Are you monitoring the voltage while driving and under load, with a voltmeter? Is it consistently 16 regardless of load? Just curious. Anyway, be careful, if it’s always 16 you are boiling that battery and risking an explosion everytime you drive it.

In Soviet Russia you don’t charge car battery, car battery charges you.

im pretty sure its inside the alternator

Lol, i have a turbo timer that tells me the voltage, its 16 when under load. It was always around 14 like it should be, this happened 2 days ago and yes i didnt drive it since and dont plan to until i fix it. Anyways im sure its my voltage regulator and roel yeah i did some research, turnes out its inside. I will most likely have the alternator rebuild.

Thanks for the help guys.
