That really effin sucks if its 97k. My girlfriend and I could never get married then :sad. Its funny because we would make more than that, but we are still not well off by any means. Home + School loans = just getting by. Fuck Obama. I did hear that he said his little tax plan may not happen soon, if even this term, so who knows…
I am guessing it will happen in stages, 1st he will make a visible, though quite meaningless to most “middle class” tax cut… XXXXXX or some huge GWB style Stimulus check / that would be classic move XXXXxxx then he will follow it with the hidden stuff we only hear about at tax time… like raising dividend taxes to 39% and removing caps on SS and Medicare (currently paid to the 1st 103k of income)… and then he will hit inheritance and all the shit we wont “feel” immediately in cases of the younger generation. No matter who was elected, we would see sneaky stuff, but with him, he will give to others as much as if not more than address current national debt. The bailout was not good and we shouldn’t be bailing out car manufacturers. Time to kill the unions, but Obama is very union friendly…should be interesting.

The best part about Obamas plan is the hidden points. It really brings up the taxes to RIDICULOUS highs.
Then he tells allll these middle class people theyre getting big tax breaks, “look at how much more money youde have”. Its really not much becuase hes taking from so few and wanting to give to so many the middle/lower class benefit isn’t what they think it will be{thinking Obamas gonna pay for their gas house car and food(which i have no doubt hell try to do)}. Its really only effecting the upper class most importantly I think is investors. Great, so we have crazy markets, which now…increased capital gains, and higher taxes…ya investors are reallly gonna wanna invest in stock now.
Anyone hear the stern thing where they go up to a bunch of black people who were voting for Obama and gives them John McCains policies and says they are Obamas, and everyone who is voting Obama agrees with whatever is attached to his name. Friggin hilarious
Ryan, i agree with your overall point of view…unfortunately it is what it is…and McCain was no prize or we wouldnt be in this position… and Bush coulda spent less too. We have to hope that Obamas “Hope” doesnt reach to deep into investors pockets. Im gonna halt friviolous spending as are many, and it will effect the economy in many ways. Im sure my off the cuff spending was good enough to create a few jobs alone!
What does Obama and the discraces of the 1995 Clinton signed Community Re-Investment plan mean to me? No fancy Kit car with an Indy moter…oh well…no replacement for the TA if I move it, since Im bored with it… no car hauler, no new toys. So what, thats unimportant. What sucks is its time to yank most stocks for a bit, stop flipping for the most part, less daily/weekly workload, and more need to bury money for the kids and family… and none of that leads to a booming economy for the country. Also shitty is giving up craps, blackjack and Roulette binges.
I have been here before, and it wasnt near this bad.
The real shame is that most of you guys grew up in a decent economy, booming in fact, and have grown accustomed to it to an extent. this means the future may hold less affordable technology to some extent too. As many of you enter the workforce, you wont find nearly as many gravy jobs and wont have the excess spending you saw some of those a little older enjoy.
Time to earn pennies the old fashion way…earn it… But this time, expect them to take more than their share.
So, my advice is you love your country and make the most of the grand opportunities… but understand you will work harder and have to be smarter, than those that enjoyed the last tech boom of the 90’s and the Real Estate boom since.
The shit has NOT hit the fan YET. But it will.
If there is one positive about Obama, he has energized his base and many Americans… and thats good…what else is good is his polocies will energize the base that didnt vote for him, as well as some who did.
I’m still among the lucky, as I did save some, but more importantly built good business and created my own opportunities that will get me through this looming recession in good shape.
