so next saturday im picking up a 94 golf that ate a valve, its a 2.0 liter, are these motors good for boost? is there a lot of aftermarket support for them? sorry for the noob questions, i dont know anything about vw’s.
ABA block is strong. if you are going to boost a VW, that’s a good starting point. i can think of better cars to boost though.
oh im sure there are better ones to boost, the car is only 100 bucks lol
honestly i wouldnt waste your time boosting a stock 2.0 8v unless it was in a mk1. throw a 16v head on that thing then start the boost factory
i was told that i should swap over to a 16v head, is the swap direct bolt on?

basically. you have to modify a few things. it will also result in an 8:1 compression ration that won’t be able to get out of its own way. you’d have to buy high compression pistons.
this might help you get started in seeing what’s entailed.

if you decide to dump that car, let me know.
how did it eat a valve? those are non-interference motors
thats what i was told, the timing belt jumped a couple teeth, he had it fixed and it only ran a couple times after that
