if you want to be like this kid, get a vr :banghead:
buy a cheeper car and put your money to something better ( ie a house)…
+1
Cars are a lot more than just numbers.
(The Evo won that comparison)
I hated the MKIV seats when I test drove it. It also seemed to lack power that you would expect from it. However I did dig the exhaust sound, and color…
I bought an MKV GTI to DD and am happier with that.

Thank you captain obvious. While we’re pointing out obvious facts, the STi came in last, and the earth is the third planet from the sun.
Specifically I was hoping people would read this part:
There are no wings or scoops; the R32 just goes about its business with a quiet confidence. It’s the car for the boy racer who has finally grown up. And speaking of grownups, two of our three-guy test crew admitted the R32 is the car they’d buy of this group. That could be due to the wisdom of increasing age, or maybe they’re getting soft. Either way, we like the R32.
And this:
Refinement is also the key inside the R32, which was acclaimed for its luxury appointments. Compared with the no-frills Evo, the R32 is loaded with features that we’ve come to expect from cars priced above 30 grand.
They are both supporting of my statement about cars being more than numbers. A lot of people don’t really care which is the fastest in the 1/4 or around a track when they’re buying sporty daily drivers.
an R32 is for me one of the most perfect cars there is. i dont need to go wicked fast almost ever… and when i do my MKV gti does the job just fine. i have to drive around all day for my job so i got a gti for the mpg… else id have an R
the fact that you pose the question and that you have an a6… im thinking you value the interior, engin sound and the feel of a VW. i’d say its probably a good choice for you. and if your feelin jazzy toss a nice exhaust and intake on, maybe some giac softwear or something… it’ll really come alive.
right on.
It’s almost like it’s a matter of personal preference.
Fuck your preference. Get the evo or we’ll all call you stupid behind your back, and call your VW crap on some forum.
Oh noes! A VW isn’t the right car based on someone else’s priorities! I better not buy one!
If you really felt that way you never would have opened the hood of your old PVC pipe CAI equipped Jetta at the autocross.
Had to pass tech somehow. lol and I tend to care very little about what other people think. Obviously.
In soviet russia, car chooses you.
lol wasn’t there a car commercial where the car drove around a lot full of people, choosing its buyer? Probably Saturn, it’s got Saturn gayness written all over it.
Yeah, it was.
And right now I’m sure there are a bunch of brand loyal people wondering what brand the Saturn cult will jump to when Saturn is killed off. Like a barge full of illegals that every country hopes the wind will push somewhere else.
I will admit the 1.8t/2.0t is an extremely fun engine, I love my dad’s 05 passat wagon, so an older gti/gli would also be a good choice, hell imo any sporty VW would be a good choice whether its a vr6 or a 1.8t/2.0t…just please, for the sake of all us VW fans, don’t buy anything with that ridiculous and embarassing 2.slow
Yes, it’s the most luxurious of the three. If you want a car with a great set-up in that price range, I encourage you to look into the Kia Amanti. It’s like driving a Lazy-Boy!
This is NYSpeed, not NYLuxury. If you ask me if a car is worth it, when its performance doesn’t justify its cost, I’m going to say no. Not because I hate VW fanboys (although I do), but because I assume, unless you tell me otherwise, than you’re asking about price/performance value comparison.
I’m not saying that what you’re bringing up is wrong, but I will say that it would have been dead last in that if it wasn’t much better equipped than the STi and Evo.
I think we’ve established that if he wants the more luxurious car in this comparison, that the R32 might not be a bad pick. If he wants the better performer, the Evo’s probably the best pick.
Uh, yeah, and it seems like the preference I’m advocating (performance) is somehow not worth considering. Jesus Christ.
“I am looking for something AWD other than a Subaru” != I would prefer the luxurious car
