My gf has a 01 Vw golf and the transmission has been shifting weird lately then today on the way home down the highway it wouldnt go into over drive …any ideas what it would be …I was thinking possible TPS ??? Please anyone any help is very appreciated thanks

whats that as Im not familiar with VWs at all … on the way home it would basically be in limp mode with the 1,2 and no other gears
Check Engine Light or any other warning light?
no lights or anything …just hard shifts at high rpms and tonight was lacking the shift to 3rd and overdrive on the highway

Do you know anyone with a VAG-COM cable? I would scan for codes first. That might help you out a little bit. Checked the AT fluid?

how many miles on the tranny? like b-rad said, have you checked / changed fluid recently / ever? filter? Hopefully something easy like that.
