Watch Crew: What to buy?

I really like my Oris and Hamilton. My buddy continues to offer to buy my Hamilton since I got such a good deal on it and rarely wear (wear the oris a lot more). But with another black strap to the mix I might actually consider letting him have it.
I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I just suggested the Hamilton X-Mach to a friend. Can be had for around a G.

X-Wind is probably my favorite Hamilton… If one popped up while I was looking for my Williams F1, I probably would have gotten that instead. Bing is right about the Valjoux 7750, That movement is exactly the reason why I think Oris and Hamilton are great choices.

OK, if I see under movement “Number: Oris 676, base ETA 7753” is that an iteration of Valjoux 7750?

I’m a bit lost there…

If you are ever questioning the movement type, google is your friend.

The reason that Oris has it’s own movement number is due to dial configurations and/or chronograph features.

i dont have enough experience to know what the changes to the movement are but i have to reiterate that my speedmaster scares me when it gets wet… my ORIS XXL i would use to block a bullet and expect it not to lose a second

For all you Slickdealers that want to look like high rollers, Jared’s lost their Rolex affiliation, so they are closing out their remaining inventory.
I went by the Knoxville Jared’s today just for kicks and was stunned to see how much a Rolex cost. But if you’ve got money to spend and are dieing for a Rolex, they have their high end models marked 40% off.
So instead of dropping $38,950 on a white gold Daytona, you can pick one up today for a mere $23,370.

Might be worth looking if you are in the market

Recommendation in the $50-$75 range? Invicta from Amazon or something else? Nothing digital and no silver band/bracelet things.

this is not the thread for you

i dont understand how a simple post like that gets 12 pages in a day… and none of the dudes know what these things go for anyways.

if i were in the area i would check it out but i wont be for a while.

40% off Rolex is very very good. best you can get up here is 22% off near the holidays and only on flat stock. not on daytonas.

Still, a good used daytona in gold is under $12k and they dont go down in value from there… that would be a better pick up than a $23k one.

for 50-100, just find something that you like the way it looks… It’ll tell time just fine, and can only depreciate so much ;). also, who cares if you scratch it up etc.

I don’t know where these guys are allowing 44% of Rolex models. As far as I knew Rolex themselves were very VERY strict with enforcing flat pricing evenly through the distributors. I tried getting two or three seperate dealers to knock even $200 off, just to say they did and they all told me to go fuck myself. Maybe the lack of Sub’s (supply vs demand) is different than an explorer or daytona. :gotme:

Find me a WG Daytona for sub $12k then.

i posted a picture of one a couple pages back didnt i?

wait no, that was the yellow gold with diamonds… but i did mention he had a white gold daytona on leather for ~$12k or so… also posted the link to his website i believe. Harmony House Jewellers in Grimsby

I’m sure you could find one in here that you like…

Was it on bracelet?

Thanks. It’s going to be covered in paint and replaced annually, so I can’t justify anything more expensive.

Still waiting… Hopefully it is worth the wait.
Anyone know Polish? Trying to track a package in a language you know nothing about is tough.

Just left the post office, so how do you set this thing?
It winds but does not seem to let me pull the crown out to set it. I don’t want to force anything.

no, leather

I checked out a local Hamilton dealer, I liked a few of the watches they had… I haven’t made a purchase yet…

Figured out the watch. Nail set at the 25 minute mark. Pull it out and turn the crown.
