Waterfront stadium discussion

Same here. She’s the 3rd of 5 siblings from her family to leave Buffalo.

my wife is 3 of 3 lol I am sure that at some point we’ll convert her parents as well.

I got that… that wasnt my point. You stated about people funding the stadium, yet why is no one funding Ralph Wilson Stadium? From what I’m aware… he wont allow it. Instead, it requires tax payers to pay for it.

Most of my friends who still live here have a family business or a govt job.

Still planning to move. I dont care to live here. Just want to get myself ready and able to support myself if I do move and something happens.

That makes fun of the people who complain but dont leave. Same dumb people who complain about their jobs but continue to work there for 30 years.

There is a lot of big companies here that pay good money. It is cheap as shit to live here, 2 professional teams, and good places to eat. You can always find stuff to do. The city is run like shit and never will be compared to New York City, Austin, LA, etc but it just what it is. I am not from here and still think Rochester is a much nicer city but I am pretty happy with Buffalo. I really wish the water front would grow tho because all the plans are getting more and more awesome yet nothing is really going on with it.

Does it require tax payers or does ralph/the bills cover maintenance costs? I assume it would be covered by the team, since their the ones making the money.

FYI, the contracts have been awarded and work is restarting almost immediately on the casino project.

The move I travel the more I realize Buffalo is not cheap once you own a house.

All of Texas, South, Midwest are much much cheaper

There aren’t that many good companies that pay that well. If that were the case, the economy would thrive. Maybe that’s your experience in your industry, but not as a whole.

I couldnt find it while at work and dont hae all the time to search… They released a statement of how much tax money goes to the Bills for the stadium, yet its named after the owner and from what I recall hearing, he wouldnt allow the name to be changed, which is bull shit.

Suburbs are getting expensive with taxes but the city is still pretty cheap.

You could however look at that as a strength though… Thats exactly what Geico took advantage of and look how much that helped the community. They could pay some Buffalo Joe $32k plus benfits to take calls or they could pay some New Yorker in Woodbury $50k to do the same job. The problem is obviously the taxes but if im a developing mid sized company out of the NYC area looking for a new plant or call center, im outsourcing the shit out of that to Buffalo.

From previous posts…

“abatement process”
“redtape”
“Historic Preservation Society” combined with the “Environmentalists”.
“hippies”
“preservationalists and obstructionists”

Hmmmmmm I see a common theme forming here but I just can’t figure out what it is but I am pretty sure it starts with a capital D.

Since when is a $32k/year salary a “strength”? That’s a joke. What is that, $15/hour?

Too bad Geico’s employee turnover rate is completely miserable; just like the normal for Call Centers. And the rate they pay in Buffalo is to keep the revolving door of people revolving; the proverbial carrot on a stick.

(I’m doing a huge project in my EMBA program on Call Center Turnover rates and employee morale; so I’m chest deep in research and have been for the past few months)

LOL and from what everyone says, Geico lays off/fires a lot of people before they reach their x amount of days to get benefits. So Geico never has to pay the benefits.

Lmao whoa whoa whoa… Im not saying Geico is the ideal company to work for but if we could have the 1500 jobs it brings here or not which would you prefer?

Usually 1/4 of the people show up a day early (or used to) 1/4 show up after the first quarter, then 1/4 leave at half time… then 1/4 leave after the 3rd… then 1/4 are too drunk to leave and pass out in their seats… so that leaves no traffic congestion in or out.
