Weight loss tips thread

Yeah, but then it sucks when you hit a wall in progress like I am now about 3 months in.

all sets approx 10 reps, as weight inc, some dropped to 6-8reps. Hammerstrengh shoulder press, 5 sets. Smith upright rows, 5 sets. Hammerstrengh machine shrugs, 5 sets. Hammerstrengh High row plate machine/T-bar supported row superset, 5 sets ea. Narrow cable pulldown/Narrow cable row superset, 8 sets ea. MUSCLE FAILURE. Arnold dumbell press, 5 sets. Dumbell shrugs, 5 sets.

Monday AM was spin, preceded by 3 miles on the hamster wheel ~6mph/10min Mi pace. Monday Night 10+ mile rain run. Tuesday (off due to scheduling, usually swim & lift), Wednesday Yoga, Pilates & Tia Chi class. Thursday almost 1 hour in the pool, Kicking only, no strokes, usually lift afterwards, time limitations again FML.

Get me off a taper and fresh from a 2-3 day weekend, and into a back/chest superset day, it’s game on. Need to fire off a monday like that after thanksgiving weekend maybe…

Pullup/Flat bench superset, 5-7 sets. Tbar standing row/Incline bench superset, 5-7 sets. Bentover row/Incline flye superset 5-7 sets. Narrow pulldown/weighted Peck Minor dip superset, 5-7 sets. Depending on the monday & time, I’ll do this before Spin class.

Dude you’re an animal. Do you workout every day? How much time do you spend on any given day exercising?

Early swim days I’m in the pool @ 6ish. 5:30am spin’s on monday & wednesdays. If I sandbag around, I’ll do the 8am Spins and run for a half hour to 45 minutes before. If I’m lifting, I’ll knock it out in about an hour, heavy groups when I get carried away near the 2 hour mark. If it gets to that, I bring a Gel, or Cliff-blocks so I don’t crash. I use 1MR from Bpi, or Jack3d for nitric on chest or back days, not on arm or shoulder days, and not always, it’s just in the arsenal. I try to work out 5-7 days a week, I’ll hit the wall from time to time, take a day or two or get forced to take a day or two due to work scheduling is what usually happens before that though. So my goal is every day, but it evens itself out to a manageable 4-6 days per week.

Thank you, had no idea I was training like a pussy but I know now. First guy that says shit to me at my hockey game Sunday, and I’m starting a fight!

lol

I’m balls deep in a Joe Freil training book on periodization in preparation for this coming year’s season. I’m going to sit down over Xmas, and start developing my schedule once I make some more progress with swimming and plan much much more. Depending on dates, and how I’m doing, my goal is a full 140.6 unbranded (non-WTC Ironman) triathlon. If not, or I have doubts on making the swim time cutoff, there’s a half 70.3 in Syracuse in the fall I’m sure I can complete safely this year and there’s always next year.

Wow. You guys are way more into it than I. I had a good base from my hockey days so maybe that is why I don’t need to stress the details and study like a madman. This leaves more time for my recent interest in quantum mechanics and space time. I am also not trying to be a fucking ripped roid lookin mothafuka.

I am simply watching my intake and limiting my portions. Burgers, bacon, eggs, nachos…you name it are still in the mix. Just being a lot more careful.

1/2 hour of circuit training at home, and 1/2 hour on the weights with my small weight bench and frees is all I need to flake the fat away.

Weight is falling off, and muscles are growing quite naturally. Honestly as my wife’s friends said when I walked in shirtless…I look fucking good. I lol to think, a little over two months ago, I had man boobs.

I could post some before and after pics…but I’m shy. :gay3:

lol good work dude.

It’s become sort of a hobby/interest. My willpower kind of sucks too so I have to commit a bit more fully to keep the wheels on the wagon.

As it so happens quantum mechanics is also an interest of mine. Make sure you pick up a copy of Steven Hawking’s The Grand Design.

I wish I could setup my drum kit for “workouts” Blastbeats and double bass at 250bpm is quite a workout. It will have to wait til I get a house.

Good info, looking forward to next class! Cortisol breaks down your muscles. :frowning:

I took the class on the physics of won-ton burrito meals already so I think I have a good start. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just read A Brief History of Time 2x (updated edition). Figured that was a great place to start so I can get a chronological start without going back to Copernicus. Thanks for the tip!

And I will wait until your next weight loss/gain lecture and bring my notebook…again.

Bump the cig thread made me want to update, small ups and downs but no major weight gains. How’s everyone doing?
