Weight loss tips thread

I eat more protien than i was before, i have some form of meat every meal just about, just no starches, and ive cut out margerine n shit.
really cut back on sodium.

tips if these are tips anyways just what ive done.

Got rid of canned veggies, which i would drain and heat on the stove in i cant believe its not butter. i replaced them with real veggies, raw, boiled, tossed in small amounts of extra virgin olive oil. more real garlic and red onions.

instead of eating home made chicken alfredo, ill grill chicken and portobello tops, and fill them with like spinach, garlic, and top them with a few pieces of shreaded cheese. (mushrooms not the chicken)

burgers without the roll, i bought the big foreman grill whe n it was 29$ at wally, instead of 100$. i fucking love it.

things i miss greatly
-red potatoes

  • pasta
  • italian bread

i was never a junk food guy, too much real food haha

i miss pizza, so much. :frowning: and chicken finger subs.

i still eat chicken finger subs and pizza every saturday and friday. However i only eat half of a sub for dinner, and only 2 pieces of pizza that equal like 1slice if it were a 9slice pizza. You just cant go bezerk and eat 7slices of pizza lol

Exactly. I still eat pizza once a week. Eat out a couple times as well. I just know I got to go extra hard working out that day and the next or cut down the intake around that meal.

moar proteins, preferably an isolate or isolate blend w/BCAA’s and EAA’s, building blocks for the body. no fancy shakes or anything, just get a shaker or two and pitch some powder and water in there and keep taking it consistently and your body will get used to it and break more down and take advantage of it. average intake should be 1g per lb of body weight.

this morning i was 303, down from 316.5 last week.

goal is still like 220 then putting on 15 more lbs in just muscle.
any smaller and ill look ridiculous. unless its like 5lbs smaller.
I have alot of muscle, with alot of fat ontop of it lolol

Wealth of knowledge in this thread since my last skim.

Like others have said, eat to much less and you can’t sustain muscle growth and wreck your metabolism or keep it wrecked.

That’s where I started. My largest was 264, yeah I’m 66 inches tall, eating less and more physical work got me to 226… but eating less only got me to there, lbs weren’t coming off anymore. Then I started eating all you can eat chicken wings on Mondays and something had to give.

Removing all fried food, beer to liqour, working out, leaned me from upper 20’s/30’s % body fat to upper teens/low 20’s. Tape measuring only neck and waist show me at 22% today  Really only thing I have left is the belly region. With the choice to cut all alcohol off till after new year, I want to see where that puts me. Have to do a Re-cert (weigh in, talk to recruiters etc) tomorrow, so if I can come in where I was or better when I signed up, it will be a big moral boost for myself.

To put it in jean size statistics, I’ve gone from 44 low on the waist gut overhang, to 36-38 wearing them where your supposed to. XL T-Shirts to Mediums or ‘big’ Smalls. The addition of more protein in the last few weeks has helped my muscles grow that’s for sure.

What works for some, wont work as well for others.

thanks for the info but im just wierd with taking supplements or stuff like that.
i wont even take asprin let alone anything else.

Get a part time summer job as a landscaper lol. Moving heavy shit all day = burning tons of calories, adds lots of muscle, gain endurance, and you become stronger than you would at the gym. (BIG differance between work muscle and workout muscle). Anybody who knows me knows im not huge as far as muscle mass goes (cept for my legs), but as they say in soviet russia “I am strong as bull”

Here is a diet document from the supplement I use for people looking for tips and stuff.

Not sure if this was mentioned before but, for those who are eating healthy:

http://eattheseasons.com/

Shows which fruits, vegtables, nuts, meats, seafood are in season.

I am not a medicine/asprin/etc person but I do take the natural supplements that are the basic stuff like amino acids and protein shakes. Which are natural and help my body work harder when I am working out and doing something athletic.

I do stay away from some of synthetic blends tho.

walker are you vegan or no?

just wanted to up this, i still dont see it as much of a diet, as apposed to just eating healthier.

the only thing im really skipping is pasta, i plan to work some wheat pasta back in once i hit my target weight and sustain it for a while

as of this morning im down 21.5lbs, since november 20th

one of my faves, there’s Lactose based, egg based and meat based. the isolates don’t have any “milk” characteristics, and the same with the egg based. never tried the meat personally… I’m almost 100% clean as well, occasional coffee and a rare ibuprofen when I get a migraine are as far as I go as well. I get what you’re talking about, these aren’t like Nitric Oxide pre-workout supps, or growth hormones, they’re protein, and Amino Acid complex with vitamins and minerals, most of which are generally all natural depending on the brand and what’s listed. I’m about to start using Nutribolics protein Isobolic here shortly once I run out of what I have. If you’re on a vegetarian or vegan diet, your body could really use the Amino Acids that generally a green diet doesn’t generally have an abundance of, really helps recovery from my experience. Shop around, and find one with what you want, and what you don’t want in it and ask around what others have to say about what’s contained in certain brands and where it’s from.

hell to the no

thanks for the info maybe ill look into it.

im weighing in around 185 now down from 240/245 about a year and a half ago. im feeling pretty good.

Spare tire is shrinking with increased food intake (including more carbs, mainly from fruits, vegatables, whole grain pasta) and increased running time. Using the life fitness treadmil “fitness test” option I did the Navy PRT run (1.5 miles) in 11.28, down from my original of 12.11 in May. Factor in other motivating factors and not watching traffic on transit go by and I’ll probably cut more off that in “real world” scenario.

Pushups and Curl-ups (sit-ups) were mid 50’s. Ipod blacks out the screen so my best guess on when it was over didn’t help me with the abrupt ending. I see no reason why I shouldn’t be able to get them into the 60’s or more by ship time.

Also haven’t had alcohol in some time now. Holding strong to the New Years date, however that might be broken because my brother is coming home on post deployment leave around the 20th and he said its not an option for me haha. However last time he was in town he kicked my ass running so it might all balance out.

Ahh the challenge of weight during the holidays…cookies, cupcakes, pies, and all the fix-ens.

Rough weekend and rough week ahead. Too much eatting out, Christmas parties and family gatherings.
Just going to have to increase the cardo/workouts if I get a chance.

Last week I was doing 1 hour on my lifefitness ellipitical on level 10 at over 70 rpm each night, hopefully that continues.

Getting from thanksgiving to new years minus anything is an accomplishment. I just started mine last month in anticipation of finally getting back on HGH at year end if all goes well with insurance paperwork, so I can actually lose the weight. Going good for me so far, minus 12 lbs in exactly one month. 1000 calorie diet and an hour of cardio on my bike with the trainer 5 days a week, plus low weight high rep weight training 2-3 times a week. Also I still have a big stash of Xenadrine and Hydroxycut with ephedra that I bought just prior to the ban, that has definitely helped get things rolling.

I didn’t think it was noticeable visually, but today I tried on my athletic fit Express button downs where the buttons were starting to pull so I stopped wearing them earlier this year and they fit much better now. Little things like that are good for motivation.

When I went off HGH at 18 I was 175 LBS. 7 years of being off it and I hit 240 as of starting the diet last month. 228 now. If I get back on it I would like to cut back to 175 then start going hard to build muscle.

WTF? I never recall you being that big?!? Pic?

So true about the shirts. I have some from express that are fitted, and they are looking MUCH better the past month or two. Late summer I was almost embarrassed to wear them.
