I hate explaining things and typing a lot so I’m just gonna give the basics. If you need more info, ask.
Keep in mind that the alternator was replaced yesterday with a brand new Bosch one. Serpentine belt was also replaced a week or so ago, and the EGI fuse (relay) in question is brand new from Nissan about a week ago as well.
With all those in mind, here’s the issue.
Before the new alternator and such I was having issues with my car dying due to something electrical.
Trickle charged the battery, removed the fuse, got the (old) alternator checked, they said it was fine, put it back in, charged fine. W/O the (old) EGI relay it ran fine w/ the relay it was bogging at idle and causing a drain (short).
Replaced relay, ran fine on old alternator, then the shaft bearing went (stupid loud and annoying screeching and little to no charge). Replaced alternator, and with the NEW OEM relay, it’s still bogging at idle. It’s losing charge when it bogs obviously cause below 500 RPM the alternator doesn’t have much rotation speed to charge, plus its almost shutting off the car.
So… I’m running with the relay out, which makes me need to open the hood and remove and reconnect the ground when I turn off the car to make sure the battery doesn’t die. Embarassing, I’m sure you know.
So, why the fuck is the NEW relay fucking around with my idle? Alternator is still charging the whole time unless it bogs, so I know it’s not a short anymore.
I was also thinking since thats fuel control my timing is off but I had that adjusted earlier this year.
I’m lost and annoyed.
