Weird lagging/surging while driving. Help ASAP

So here’s the deal.

I just installed a new SAFC-II, all wiring seems to be correct. System comes on, allows adjustment, reads airflow, reads TPS, reads RPM.

It’s installed on a Blacktop SR, with a 62 (redtop) ECU.

The car was running fine before the install of the SAFC, however it seemed a bit rich.

After installing the SAFC, I went for a little boot around the block, and noticed that there’s a realy weird lag on the throttle. It’s not a lag in response, but it dips/chugs much like the “Oh shit, we’re almsost outta gas” chug. There’s about a quarter tank so I don’t think it’s that.

I was concerned that it might be running MASSIVELY lean, so I richened the whole RPM band for high and low throttle 2%. It’s still doing it.

Also, this happens no matter what the throttle input, and it’s very inconsistant. It just kinda jerks/lags/bogs/whatever as I’m cruising along, or if I punch it. Now, I only took it out for about 5-10km, and I didn’t want something catastrophic to happen.

Any help ASAP would be nice.

Got one of these in my car.
1st when u installed it u cut the MAF wire and hooked it up to the in and out for the safc i assume (stupid question but i gota ask it).

2nd I would initialize the system (theres an option for this in the setup menu)

3rd Make sure you have it set to HOTWIRE in the setup menu i believe its either 5 in and out or 6 in and out (consult the online documentation)
leave all fuel maps at 0 to start with.

4th ensure you have it set to 4 cylinder with the arrow pointing up (this is for the correct RPM and throttle reading)

Even if this is all correct i would initialize the SAFC and start again. If this still fails, i would remove the SAFC and re-connect the MAF signal wire directly again and see if your problem still persists.

Already initilized it, and it’s 5 and 5 for a stock MAF.

Turns out it had defaulted back to 6 cylinders without my knowledge, but it’s still doing that at low RPM.
