anybody here knows if 304 STAINLESS STEEL piping will weld and hold to a regular mild steel flange? And where would i go locay to get a STAINLESS STEEL flange cut out?
use 309 rod for dissimilar metals and it will hold just fine
Use 309L for mild to 300 series austenetic stainless steel. You should still back purge as with regular stainless as you will still get “sugaring”.
use argon if you can for purge. If you dont get the right absence of air you gould even get ‘grapes’ that could let go later and rattle around in your IC and make you realy wonder whats broken LOL
No you won’t get “grapes” from not having an argon back purge. You will get “sugaring” which is similar to porosity on the back side of the weld. “Grapes” are caused by excessive penetration.
