Welding Questions

I have to weld a couple things to my stock cast exhaust manifold.

  1. 1/2" thick T3 flange
  2. Wastegate flange

My concern is the turbo flange. It’s going to be welded to my current T3 flange to act like a spacer. Or, instead of welding it on should I use extended studs and an extra gasket? If I do weld it, what is the best way to keep it from warping?

The wastegate is a different story, I have to drill a hole in the top of the manifold and weld in a pipe with flange. I might outsource this to Hank or something.

You can always bring it to me ya know  Weld the flange on AND use extended studs. Just no double gasket. Too much movement and it’ll likely blow out.

Is this manifold cast iron or tubular steel?

It’s a cast manifold. I’ve been trying to find extended studs, preferably ARP. I believe it’s a M10x1.25 about 60-70mm long.
