We’re going through with all the financing for my house today and the bank called me to inform me that when they ran my credit it came back that I’m deceased. I told them there clearly had to be a problem since last time I checked i’m alive and kicking. They finally tracked it down to one credit bureau that has me listed as being dead. Anyone have any idea how I go about becoming alive again?? They told me its not as simple as calling them and saying that I’m alive or else I would have done that already. Thanks guys.

The bank is wrong. It’s that simple.
However it can be timely unless you are willing to pay out the A.
Call your lawyer, and explain the situation. Get a notarized letter stating you aren’t dead. Find out which company it is call them up and then dispute ONLINE claiming you have proof you aren’t pwned. They’ll request proof, you overnight it ( CMRRR ) and hope they look at it soon. But becareful what you send them, the less info the credit bureau has about you the better. Your lawyer may be able to assist you more.

Yeah I don’t need it done right away. The bank is still going to finance my house because 2 other credit bureau’s still list me as alive with very good credit haha. What the hell does CMRRR stand for btw? And what proof would they ask for besides the notarized letter?
only way to do that is to get all 3 to think your dead… only problem is once u max out the debt yu have now ur kind of stuck… cuz u cant make a payment on any of it… and u cant open new lines of credit… so ur pretty much SOL for the rest of ur life
Anyways, how the hell did that one credit bureau get that you were dead in the first place?!

That was my very first question, and my very first thought was fraud. That, or you having the same name as someone, and they slipped up. Poor Mike Smiths’

not really. you could just do what a million people do and apply for a EIN ( employment identification number ) and use that (instead of your social#) to apply for new credit. The EIN and SS# aren’t associated somehow, so all your past credit, good or bad, isn’t transferred over.
it’s how a lot of the online ‘fix your credit in 30 days’ schemes work.
oh i forgot, it’s illegal, but people do it all the time anyways
So… only 1 credit bureau thinks i’m dead so all the people that say rack up the credit debt that won’t work. I still get credit card statements from the other 2 credit bureau’s every month. Just 1 out of 3 of them think i’m dead which is what i find funny because you would think if somehow someone with the same name was reported as dead all 3 would have me reported as deceased.
