Well This Triumph dealer had a leftover 2007 Daytona 675 that he was going to cut me a sweet deal on, but I got denied for the financing. I thought it was kind of strange that I would get denied since I’ve really never had a problem before so I just got home and ran my credit report.
To make a long story short my parents had a lot of problems and went bankrupt. They still had some student loans and such to pay off and some other crap.
I got home and looked and I was fucking shocked to see what was on my credit report. They have my dads student loans which he has not bad for ($15,000) on my credit report as well as a home depot credit card ($4,000) and a HSBC loan for $3,000. All of them have not been paid and are past due for like the past 1-2 years.
Me and my dad have the same name and I live with my parents still so we have the same address but how the hell does this happen with different SSN#'s?
exactly why its important for people to check their credit reports somewhat frequently…
That really sucks, good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

Well I’ve signed up creditboards that was posted in here. I’m going to ask for some advice but I will probably end up disputing it and have my parents write a letter or something saying that this is there debit and not mine.

your credit score it hinting it’s time to leave the nest?

I would like to but with both of my parents being disabled (mom got hurt and work and my dad in a car accident) it would be very extremely hard for them to do anything around the house.
there are tons of ways to get it for free. My cc is through citibank, and they have some trial thing where they also give you a free credit report. I got that, then just cancel soon as the report comes
same thing happened to me. my father had the same name so i got the shaft. but here i am 7 yrs later with great credit and buying a house. you need to write letters to the creditors and prvide them with proof that you are who you are. its pretty gay but unfortunetly theres no way around it. good luck, you got a tuff rd ahead of ya. you can thank your parents for that. i know i did.
tom… there is deff ways to get free trials for viewing your credit score!.. u can get one free one every 4 months… (well once a year… but there are 3 diff companies that do it… so if u rotate companies… it will be one for free every 4 months)… just be sure to cancel it before the month is up so u dont get charged
i ran my ssn to get my credit report and some other guy’s name came up under that ssn. some guy from the bronx had hijacked it and had some unpaid utility bill. i had to go to the ss office and get proof of my name, address, ssn, etc. was actually mine to get it off my credit report. the thing that sucks is that this cost me a job, i was all but hired and they just had to run a background/credit check and this came up. pita…
damn that’s really shitty man. while that 2007 daytona 675 might be out of reach for the time being, you can feel relieved knowing that it’ll only be a few months before you can go back out on the market.

Same thing happened to me as well. My father and I have the same name and he had a $25k judgement placed against his business. It was dismissed but still ended up on my credit report.
I had to write letters to the big three reporters, explaining the situation. Also, was supported by a letter from the family attorney and judgement statement. Took about 3-5 months to clear up.

hey did you ever get that other thing taken care of? let me know if you still need help.
Sort of a similar situation happened to me. My father had the same name as I do and he passed away and then my credit report showed that I was deceased. I filed a claim saying that we were not the same person and had that stuff removed off of my credit report.
