… no i can agree with that. there are tons of supras out there, that their owners dont really practice the launch, or just have any idea what they are doing. There for, loosing all their time at the beginning, then trap at 12x mph. I will say, that the supra is not the easiest car to launch.
… but i can agree with you, most of the guys on the supra forum, run 12s at 12x… which those owners/cars could be classified as a highway/dyno queen.
800hp with a 10 second slip is a dyno queen as well
we’ve had pig heavy 3600+lb raceweight cobras with under 450rwhp hit 10’s. (Not comparing the Cobra to the Supra, even though they are nearly identical setups).
Its how the Supra delivers its power, and plants itself to the ground, which makes it a dyno queen
the only thing a shop did was build the motor. I do not have the confidence or knowledge to put a motor together that can withstand 1000rwhp.
but as far as pulling the motor, putting the items back on the motor, from a bare block/head. I did. Install the new driveshaft, intercooler, oil cooler, electronics, relocate battery, build fuel system… lines/fittings, rewire objects, nitrous…
And i put it back together to make 8XXrwhp…
so no, a shop did not put the car together, it was done in my garage.
… the weak point on the 2jzgtes are the rods. The most HP made on a stock block i think was 948rwhp. They engines dont give because of the horsepower, they give because of the torque. They usually dont last when approching 800rwtq.

"we’ve had pig heavy 3600+lb raceweight cobras with under 450rwhp hit 10’s. (Not comparing the Cobra to the Supra, even though they are nearly identical setups). "
“800hp with a 10 second slip is a dyno queen as well”
… with those statements, one is obviously more effective on the drag strip
2003 Ford Mustang Cobra
HP: 390hp (although we all know its ~430hp actual)
TQ: 390tq (although we all know, this to is about 430tq)
Curb Weight: 3,663 lbs
Skid: .91g
Engine: 4.6L DOHC Supercharged V8
Rear: Independant
P/W Ratio: 1hp/9.39lbs
1/4: 12.7 @ 111mph
Braking 60-0: 115ft
0-60: 4.4s
so… is this saying the Mustang Cobra isnt as affective on the road course as the Supra? or would you say, it’s a better all around performer too? Again, I will reaffirm my point… Supras are dyno queens.
you said a 4XXrwhp cobra is running 10’s…
but a 4XX supra may run 11’s…
its happend to much for it to be the driver, so obviously has to be the car… right?
the cobra obviously is setup more, whether its the supercharger or gearing or suspension, who knows, but going from what you said, the cobra is obvoiusly setup better for the track. ie by the same power and lower times…
my point was… that both cars have near identical handling numbers, verified by the 200ft skid, and slalom numbers (which i apologize for not posting)… Cobra out brakes the supra as well, which could account for better handling.
Out accelerates it, under all levels of modifications as well… Meaning, compare equal ranged power numbers.
So it must not be the supras suspension, because the cobra is setup to be exactly identical.
I could also compare it to say a Camaro or a Trans Am if you like
