Nicely done Bing.

pimp… did you do an oil analysis to assess your current bearings?

the kit just arrived today to do the first analysis. i’ll do another afterwards

Bump. Guy logged his miles vs how much the car is worth over a few years. E90 Red M3:

So, this data is cool and all, but what can you actually ascertain from this dump of data?
Well, the first thing to note is that a 7-year-old M3 with near 70K miles is still going to cost
you darn near the price of a new V8Opens in New Window muscle car. If that isn’t holding some sort of value, then I don’t know what is.

Regardless of holding value, what I wanted to do was just log a performance car’s value in a way that I have not seen before. You see plenty of videos, articles and content that says “I bought it for X with Y miles, and now it’s worth A with B miles,” but you never fully see the road to those values month by month. I hope this gave you a greater insight into how well a daily driver E92 M3 holds its value.

this was a fun thread…

Seems obvious that the largest depreciation hit is the first couple years and the curve flattens.
$200 a month seems like a bargain, but owning a 7 year old M3 would have cost of ownership implications that should not be ignored.

I’m not quite following the logic"

What new v8 muscle car can be purchased for $22k?

yeah i’m at around $1k (CND) per month in maintenence costs over the last year with no end in site.

Holy shit dude, that’s crazy.

yup… still have several grand in maintenance i want to do as well…

costs of owning cool shit that you actually drive regularly and maintain at the dealer.

i’m probably going to go buy another car this year just so that i can drive the M3 less and catch up on maintenance. i have over 210,000km’s on it now.

Geez $1k/month in maintenance? Get rid of that thing man. You can have a lot more car than that for $1k/month.

Nah, I’m just going to add things.

To be honest I have a hard time thinking about spending $80k+ on a car when I know I could have way more fun in a $20k old modified nissan.

You guys ever think of going back in time instead of growing up? Growing up costs too much.
