Just got a call that a leaf spring in the rear left is snapped. I guess it was pretty common on these years for that to happen. Also, going to have to put through a claim for a new windshield once I get it back. A stone popped up on the thruway and did more damage than I thought.
I’ve got a '12 Crew 1500 LTZ with the 6.2L; I love my truck! I’m getting on average about 13.7 this winter, was about 14.5 last summer; highway is right about 14-15mpg depending on the terrain.
Nice pick up though, they’re nice trucks. Only issue I’ve had with mine since I’ve had it was the power seat mechanism on the driver’s seat stripped a gear, but that was covered under warranty.
Had an 09 Crew cab LTZ with a 6.2 for 4 yrs and loved it. Waited about 6 mos and took it to NC and had a company named blackbear tuning put a “hot 93” tune on it. Had to run sunoco 93/94 in it or would ping like crazy. Was a great truck and would shock people when it would chirp the 20 ’ s on the back hitting second. Sometimes even a little spin as well if it was having a good day.

Have a 13 now with 5.3 and I think I’m around 16 with it but tow nothing with it and baby it mostly.
We tuned an 07 with the DOD AFM 5.3 and played with the setting for when the V8 kicks back in. Gained about 4mpg if I recall correctly. Moved to something like 30% throttle. Customer was pretty happy. He is on here, Dan Lynch, not sure of his screen name. He did all the research before doing it so he could chime in if it’s something your interested in.
Just picked this up. Had a $500 shop bill for new front rotors and pads and the replaced driver side rear leaf spring. The bulk of the bill was labor for dropping the gas tank.
The ride from Arcade —> West Seneca averaged 16.9 mpg. I was easy on the gas pedal, which I wasn’t really coming home from Pittsburgh due to time constraints. Anyways, I’m very happy with it and all the guys in the shop said it was super clean underneath for the year/mileage. It will be even cleaner when I detail it. I requested them not to do it again since the first dealer did it and I knew I was going to do it again anyways.
I have the 5.3 in my Silverado too. Mine is 2wd though. I can get a little over 20mpg on the thruway in the summer going 65-67. I average around 17.5 in the summer and 16-16.5 in the winter. A 4wd would be about 1mpg less everywhere. No bs, no tricks. Towing my car to Empire I can get 15.5-16, but I try to get good mileage when I do that, and I modify my driving to keep it in V4 mode as much as possible.
