Can an opp officer pull over someone on roads, non highway oriented?
A full out OPP SUV…
I’d say yes.
Can the OPP office themselves get pulled over?
OPP CAN pull you up anywhere in ontario
safety is the mandate
if they want they can call a local to lay the charge and just play witness
OPP can get pulled over but usually never in a black/white
Police can pull you over anytime for no reason under compulsory auto insurance act
when we were in cayuga … The opp officer drove all the way to the gate to ask us questions … Yeah they can pull u over.
This is HTA definition of a Highway
“highway” includes a common and public highway, street, avenue, parkway, driveway, square, place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is intended for or used by the general public for the passage of vehicles and includes the area between the lateral property lines thereof; (“voie publique”)
Just curious, cause today, on my way to school (where I am now) I got cut off twice by the same OPP Suv…In a 50 zone (Exact same place where I have a 10 over ticket…).
He was doing at minimum 70, no cherries, stopped at all the reds, and was weaving in and out of traffic, on a very populated road.
what did you do this time ?
Lmao, no I have a 10 over from there like a year and a half ago.
In my moms purple neon lol
And was just curious and kind of confused as to what/or if its legal for this opp officer to do such.
RCMP, OPP, Regional Police
Can pull you over anywhere they like and issue you a ticket concerning the HTA.
Adrian
Cops can basically do whatever they want, just remember its their word against yours. Unless you have a witness the judge will almost always side with the cop. I have been fucked over atleast 2 times because the judge didn believe me, atleast I never got charged only ticketed.
i’ve been told 407…only the o.p.p can nab you.
Ontario.Provincial.Police = ANYWHERE in ontario
OPP has jurisdiction over any area in ontario
local police cant pull u over on the highway . but o.p.p. can pull u over in most places.
Actually I believe normal cops can pull you over on the highway.
I’ve seen it done, im pretty sure an OPP backup is normally called however.
^^Not true.
^Not entirely true.
I recieved a ticket from a York regional with no OPP present on HWY 400. After talking with some friends who work for YRP and having gone to school for being a police officer. Once sworn in you can enforce any law governed by the province of Ontario no matter what force you work on.
So Adrian, than any officer both OPP and normal Police cruisers have the authority to pull you over at any place in any point in time?
Correct?
Ontario Provincial Police…as in all of the province…not Ontario Highway only Police. I do believe that means they are even more powerfull then a regular constable, which would only have jurisdiction in there division .
Just curious how would Jurisdiction come into play?
This is correctumundo.
yea but Metro police cant harass you in York region and Vice versa right? or wrong
