what can i do?

im really bored right now, and my project 240 is just aching to be worked on, i dont have anyparts to install at this moment, and dont have the work space or time right now to take out hte enigne, but does anyone know of anything i can do to start working on it? im giong for a drift street car. changing brakes suspension, swaping a sr20det. engine currently is blown. lsd and the such.

thanks for any little projects

you can do a sleepy eye mod:P LOL

hahaha very true, but i dont have a battery for it yet so i cant really test it out, and its a pain in the ass getting the battery out of my integra

but when you guys do the sleepy eye, do you just cut the brown wire? or do you do it properly?

how do you do the sleepy eye conversion?

re-wire the relay

or you can pull out the switch, and cut hte brown wire haha you tube it

disconnect all the upper engine wiring harness and lower wiring harness … start taking off the accessories ( alternator , starter , power steering) … Take off intake manifold , exhaust manilfold … theres a lot you can do …

wow, you’re building a drift street car? That’s sick.

if u dont plan on driving the car for a while why dont u strop the car inside and out and see what u can clean up/fix re enforce

u can see if theres rust on the car that needs fixing as sky14 suggested… or u can listen to fobwall … he wants u to street drift and see how far u can go with that… (highly not recommended.)

unless u meant u gna drift the car at the track and also drive it on the street

funny…what i meant was a drift/ street car, not going to be drifting on the streets thats just plain retarded. but i want to build a car which i can drift at the track and as well as drive it on the road legally and not to uncomfortably

and R33, sky14 those are some good ideas thanks, my frame and everything is pretty mint, no rust, (american car) but i can see where i could start get more support.

alot of people also pull out all the sound protection to save weight, i mean its only 20 lbs max, but it keeps you busy and is quite the job, remove the dash/seats/carpet, grab some dry ice, throw it on and hammer away. mind you, this will make alot of sounds alot more noticeable inside the car like road noise, lsd(clutch, welded w/e) and other stuff.
maybe sourcing out a good sr is another thing , someone to install it.

good luck with the car.

Well, what I did first was got rid of the rattling timing chain
Heres a write-up http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=105618&page=2

While I was doing that I painted my valve cover, useless, but it makes the engine bay look so much better. Then I removed most of the rust that I could see using sand paper, rust bullet and spray paint lol and thats were im at. Goodluck

yeah i dont have the space right now to be able to install a cluch or weld my lsd, nor am i looking at fixing the rattling timing chain since it jupmed and bent two rods, so im just ripping out the KAe and going to instal a SR20det, but ill be doing hte swap, its simple enough i guess, just wiring is going to be a pain, just going to have a shop make sure its finished and tuned right. but im looking to keep some comfort in the car, so im not going to be ripping out the sound deadening

any 240 i get i do 2 things… #1 strip the entire interior and clean the bitch top to bottom… find rust and wire brush it down, using a quality drill with a wool brush attachment helps. then i paint the inside steel with black spray paint and go over the entire hatch/trunk are and use the rubberized tar spray to prevent water damage…

#2 clean all the carpet and seats with shampoo and put back in.
i like to leave the back seats out for a month after shes on the road… the tubed out rear gives it a nice touch but then you relise emergency back seats are nice… never know when you might need to cram people back there, lol

also just tidying up the engine bay, remove unwanted crap and such…

try taking the covers off the pop-ups and paint them either black or the same color as your car(guarenteed to be faded to hell from being 15+ old plastic)

thanks those are also great tips about the interior, defiently going to do that, is there anything else that can help prevent water damage, or rust to the trunk?, also you can actually fit ppl in your back seat??? im 6,2 so i hva ehte seat back all the way and i cant even fit my fist in between the back seat and my seat

oh my pop up covers are actually metal, and they are the same shade of fade red as the rest of my car haha

starting tearing the interior out, any tips on taking out the seats/front of the cars interior? my trunk is in great condition, only a little hole ont he left, but i mopped up a bit of left over water int he back there, and theres no rust other than the one spot so im happy with that

install a cup holder. that was my first mod… lol

rust proof the interior of the car i forget wht the spray is called.
but the next theing u shoudl look into is ur suspension take that shit off clean the arms box them paint them and change the bushings.
