What does a $150,000 house look like in your neighborhood?

Whats the property like? is that shitty house on 50 acres or something? Or is there a meth lab in the basement? thats a lot of money for a shack.

 50 acres… its a little over a half acre. and it doesnt have a basement.

house hunting down here is nauseating. There isnt anything but shit for under $250K. 250K in Kittanning would get you a NICE fucking house.

Fox Chapel :jerkit:

$150,000 in my neighborhood would be my house with $20,000 in small bills on the kitchen counter.

Look in Salisbury… They have nice homes there…

My sister lives in the DC area, you cant even get into a single family home for under $500,000. The condo she lives in was around $350,000. But the job market there is great, everyone wants to live there.

The only one at 150 didn’t have a picture, but this is what 185k gets you

my house was in the 150 range, 2 beds, 1 car garage, 3 stories. 900 sq’ of living space.

Makes me even more satisfied living in Pittsburgh.

Mike - how far out do you have to go before the prices come down?

thanks for that wonderful tip. I never would have thought of that. :ugh:

Exactly. The job market in DC is totally different. There are no high paying jobs in OC. Its 100% unskilled labor. Its easy to walk into a 80K job in DC. You’d be damn lucky to find something for $30K here. I dont know how the fuck people do it.

far. Things are more reasonable in Salisbury, which is at least a 30 minute drive. Your house would most likely be a million dollar home down here.

Be glad you live in Pittsburgh - this is one of the most reasonable, predictable house markets in the country. I used to live in Connecticut and left when I realized that I could never afford to buy a house that I would actually want to live in.

…sorry, but there are no $150,000 houses in my neighborhood. However, mine is for sale if anyone is interested:

Make me an offer! Willing to negotiate.

Would you take $500.00 cash? [/lowball offer]
