Even if they are just for evaluation testing for the 2009 season. Button ran them yesterday and set the fast lap for the day in last years Honda.
hmmmmmmmmm slicks would great for F1

They used to be fantastic, slicks and no traction control in '09 here we come!
Thankfully his son is longer around to drain the sport.
Shit when the photo I posted was taken I wasnt born Chris
it would be nice if there was a unlimited class. Bring the danger back into the sport.
I’m just glad they got rid of traction control… that should make it more fun.

:picard:
You sir, are a fucking idiot.
Almost had a fatality last year, that’s not enough for you?

Humans would not be able to pilot the machines. Not just for safety reasons either.
Though some friends and I have tossed around the idea of a fully automated car in an unlimited class. It’s not like these things are far off, even with the massive limitations in what technologies they can use.

if ther was a unlimited class the cars would easly excede a humans G-force limit and reaction time so automation would be likely.
here is a random thought. what about using a jet engine rather than a piston engine? Thrust vectoring would be amazing for cornering + you would be able to get on the power much sooner exiting a corner since you are not using tires to drive you. i’m sure that is aginst the rules though.
Seriously just DIAF. This is a discussion about the lack of traction control and reintroduction of slicks, not idiotic pipe dreams like thrust vectoring on an F1 car.
jet engine? riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. then again you drive one of those ford abortions, er, SHOs.
glad to see them testing slicks again!!
PS, the tires are the limiting factor no matter the power plant you fucking moron. it’s not FLYING, thrust vectoring would just increase the lateral loading which is already the limiting factor re: corner speed.
Dammit somedude, totally fucking up Mike and my :snky: plan
teaser hints:
F1 car, Estes model rocket engines… (go D-Engine or go home!)…= F1 domination.
obviously the car will have to be fully automated, so we’re planning on working out a deal with Skynet to see if they can build our own T-1000, code name “The Stig”, to pilot the car’s onboard comptuer systems…
Sorry guys but Parnelli Jones ran a turbine car in the 1967 Indy 500

how did he do? I assume not that great since they don’t use it now.
turbine != jet
besides modern jets are actually turboFANS. rather, I think sometard, er, dude was talking about a rocket engine
anybody know what width those are, they look fucking huge
