What if... ? NASCAR

No offense but I’d guess one you “got to talking” with them they’d realize (if?) you don’t have racing experience (right?) and wouldn’t bother to “put you into a car.”

It’s still a “what if…” kinda thing that I don’t think anyone would say “nah, no thanks”

Took you guys a while to put a heel toe joke in there! If by some small yet unreal chance that I make it, there will be a sticker on the car…

It is a small team, so I’ll also have to do research as well.

It’s still exciting to even think of having a meeting, regardless of the outcome.

Ha! Beaten

Honestly, what was your friend telling this man that he thought “well, let’s set something up!”?

Team owners must hear that type of shit 59,687x/day

This is an automotive/motorsports forum, so if anybody on here says “no that’s dumb I wouldn’t even want to rev the engine of one of those cars” then they obviously are on the wrong forum. Everyone is going to say give it a shot.

I agree with Dave though, unless you have racing experience they more than likely wouldn’t even let the person do a parade lap in the car. However, if I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with even a slight chance to put a few laps down, sure but I sure as hell wouldn’t be leaving my day job on a risk.

LOL

I run real good times in the parking lot and on go kart tracks…put me in a 100,000 dollar race car and let me see if I have what it takes based on someone casually mentioning my talents.

I hate that we share a birthday. You suck.

the only way you will get a ride in a top nascar team is:

start off at the age of 6 racing go-karts, move to sprint cars, outlaws, Busch North, truck series, nation wide…then, maybe, just maybe will you make it.

sorry. if it was so easy, everyone would do it

Don’t forget that the families usually had money to help pick up big sponsors and allow them to play their whole lives, helping them get to where they were with $$$$. Another thing I do not have.

I’m going to call this NYDreamKillers.com from now on.

If I have even a 0.0001% chance of anything, just by a meeting… I’d still do it. I’m not about to quit my job before meeting by any means. I am not independently rich, I need to work to survive. But, I think anyone here would get a tiny bit excited with just the thought that the impossible could come true for them. At least I will be able to say “I had more chance than you.”

I love driving. NYSpeed and UBRF were there to keep that love going  Don’t start stomping feet on my dreams… it is just a “what if…”

Well done sir

Well if we are playing what ifs.what if you raced open wheel then decide to go nascar. You show up on a motorcycle and do some sick laps. But you are unmanagable because you do not know much about cars.So this old fuck starts teaching you.One night he hires you a police dressed hooker.Next race there is a crash in turn 4.You go through it and are in a serious accident with a serious concussion.Youand micheal rooker race wheel chairs down the hall. Then you crash some rental cars get kickedout, fuck some hooker doctor, and wake up realizing your what if is a plot days of thunder. You also realize you have nothing needed to race nascar and are to old to learn.

 awesome movie.

it wont workout

it would be awesome if they let you drive the car though!

fml, that is my dream job!!! well getting paid to race any sort of car would be mint!

I’ll be sure to keep you all posted. I am excited just to be in this position, as anyone else here would be. Make it or not, I’m just glad I have the opportunity.

I would go just to say i tried/had the experience/story to tell…but i’d also be realistic and know that there are 1000’s of kids out there that have been driving competitively since they were 10 that would destroy me on a track, and not get my hopes up in the slightest…i would go with the mentality that it’s not going to become anything more, and that i’ll at least come back with a cool story.

I say do it!

However if you get rich I want $1000 for supporting your dreams!

Have you ever driven fast in a competitive race with multiple cars on the track?

Hey guys…
I like driving fast…
I’m pretty good at speeding, I turn left AND right on the highway…
This nascar shit will be cake.
Call me dick trickle.

dude shitz easy

Even if you don’t drive if they see your enthusaism and like what they see, they could potentially offer you a different job within the team. My friend Chuck had a sweet job with Robert Yates racing, all because of 1 interview. I say “had” because he moved to North Carolina and I haven’t heard from him in a while so I don’t know what he is up to now. If any of you guys remember about 7 or 8 years ago when you’d see the Dale Jarrett trailer parked on Orchard Street in NT, that was him towing it around. Most of the time he would be taking real race cars around the country to set up practice runs at tracks, the other time would be taking show cars to car shows, malls, etc…

We fired up a 500-mile car inside of the trailer with just the side door open, talk about loud, lol.

He got a decent paycheck, all expenses paid, got to see the country, attend every car event, and basically stayed in warm climates the whole year. Lots of hidden perks too

I have a feeling you will look like Ricky Bobby - post accident, pre cougar.
