If my car has been sitting for awhile (8-12 hours), it will make a chattering noise for about 1-3 seconds on startup. I am fairly sure its just the lifters being starved of oil until oil gets up there but not sure. (Its not the timing chain). I read on here awhile ago you can buy some stuff to pour in with the oil to quiet it up??? Anyone know what thats called and where I can get it?

ether works well, but try lucas oil stabilizer…
It’s the chain making the noise , it takes a while to tension the chain . The chain on the other side of the tensioner hit the head .
I though it was the exaust system and started removing the heatshield and all but it was the motor.
Dont worry about it , mine does it and most high mileage sohc motor do it too
other than that try lucas .
