what is the best engine for performance???

If your Crown Vic had the same specific output as one of the 2 liters you’re talking about then you’d be making 460hp and it wouldn’t be so lame. A Civic with an H22 swap is going to get 30mpg and still beat you by like 2 seconds on a 1/4 mile track.

are we seriously debating hp/L?

someone close this thread already

weakest argument ever. I could care less how “big” the engine is, hp is hp.

Stole this from Pewter but I’d say it wins hands down.

weakest hp per liter ever!! only like 4.27 hp per liter :wtcslap:

it would be better if it had vtec. You could have vtec kick in at 65rpm.

120hp/L
What production engine beats that?[/QUOTE]

Yay… my favorite rice-boy arguement to shit on… whee.

So you say you make 120hp/L, and I say SO WHAT?

Let’s compare your ultimate motor, in the vehicle it calls home to say a LS6 in the vehicle it calls home.

S2000- Displacement: 2.0L- MPG (Adjusted to new '08 rating): 18/24/20 City/Hwy/Average http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/16448.shtml- 240 HP/153 TQ- Curb Weight 2809lbs- 0-60: 5.9- 1/4 Mile: 14.1 @ 99.6

Corvette- Displacement: 5.7L- MPG (Adjusted to new '08 rating): 17/26/20 City/Hwy/Average http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/17345.shtml- 405 HP/400 TQ- Curb Weight 3118lbs- 0-60: 4.0- 1/4 Mile: 12.5 @ 115

So, lets review. Your ultimate motor has over 300lbs LESS weight to push around, has 3.7 LESS liters of displacement (in 4 less cylinders), takes nearly 2 seconds more to 60 and through the quarter (again, pushing less weight), yet can only get about the same MPG? I don’t know about S2K’s, but most stock C5 Z06 owners actually beat the ratings by a lot. I still get 28-29mpg out of mine on the freeway pushing 450RWHP.

I will never get behind the “most horsepower per liter” arguement until I see some reason WHY this is a good thing. If you can get it done with MUCH more power yet be more efficient (remember the LS6 is pushing a bigger car) using more displacment but a lower specific output (aka hp/L) then WHY THE HELL NOT??? It’s not like S2K’s get great fuel mileage considering displacement, but Z06s DO get great fuel mileage considering displacement (and power).

Yeah, I’m pretty jealous of your 120hp/L.

I get 34 mpg driving to Harrisburg in my LS1 vette, and around 29-30 coming back. It only gets 18-20 around town though.

I vote LSX!
