What is the logical route for modifications?

SR20DET redtop

HKS Intake, ARC SMIC, ARC hardpipes, ARC BOV, HKS exhaust manifold
Basically we are sitting with the basic bolt-ons.

What are the next modifications? First considering the supporting modifications for reliability sake.

-downpipe
-turbo elbow
-straight mid-pipe (no cats) -> not so sure about this one… I don’t want a Honda raspy sound

-FMIC

-boost controller

-fuel pump?
-fuel injectors, fuel regulator/rail?

-top end work? valve springs, cams?
-intake manifold

Where should a bigger turbo be inserted in that progression? How about the order of the progression itself?

Look in the sticky up above

If you search on the bigger american forums you can get more than the couple peope’s opinion.

how about this …

sounds like you have alllll the modifications you need already with sr20 that will be more than enough for you to drift/autocross/drag/have fun with…

other than exhaust and boost controller, dont spend a single more dollar, keep maintaining your car and make it last… and save your money and take a trip or something else, buy a bigger TV…

just get a turbo. Then leave everything!!!

My brother just slaped on a disco and did 275whp this past weekend and was around 12:1 on full load. Even shot a big flame out when hit the speed limiter. Thats stock injectors and pump and you can find a used disco for a grand aream, maby less if your lucky.

I would say if you were to follow through with all of these upgrades then you have the order mainly right except switch 3 and 4 around.

For reliabilty sake it would definatly be safer to crank the boost after you have your fuel issues solved.

You will also need some kind of fuel management like an Apexi SAFC II and some kind of retuned ecu to accomidate for all the changes.

Don’t forget the stock MAF isn’t good for much more than 275-300(correct me if im wrong) so if you did eventually plan to upgrade the turbo it would come after all of the above.

Number 5 is not essential but can help improve hp and reliability

Clutch slipping will also become become an issue if you upgrade turbo. So plan to have an aftermarket clutch like an RPS,Exedy or ACT installed.

Search on Nico and other larger forums and all of your questions can be answered

I also love how that list does not include any kind of engine management ?!

Thats what SAFC’s are for.

Well hes doent need engine management, just a reflash in he does injectors or MAF. But yet another what should i do post. Give your power goals, intended use, budget. Then maybe youll get some better help.

WOW… what kind of car guy says that??? buy a bigger TV? Id rather sit my ass in a fast car than on a couch.

 i was thinking the same thing.

bigger injectors, bigger maf, bigger turbo with up-dawg boost and he doesnt engine management ?! SAFC is good enough I guess…

I purchased a 37" Flat LCD HDTV from Dell for 1,200 instead of brand new coilovers and I still am 3 to 4 times more fit than 75% of this board users including you… and my HD sporting experience is … unfuckingreal…

Whos talking about fitness???

Dont forget about braking/suspension/rubber…

With the 1 stage there:

Any suggestions on the turbo elbow and downpipe (brand)?
DJ Auto is quoting me 125 and 288 respectively for each (Megan Racing).

What’s the opinion on a test pipe? Worth it? Does it make the exhaust raspy? Noticeable power gains?

Double post

$288 for a Megan DP is a rip off! I got mine for $180 from Autodream.

www.bings.ca i bought a turbo elbow from him. 110 $

Man do ebay for your elbow and dp. Get lowest prices, and if you do ss autochrome they lie so you dont have to pay duty.
