seriously, did i miss something? why has there been a sudden proliferation of guns for sale on nyspeed? all i know, is if i were an owner/administrator of this site, the last thing i would want is liability for guns transacting over my website, which could later be used in a crime.
i don’t know the legality, but i do know that sometimes perception > reality. just because the law wouldn’t hold you liable doesn’t mean you can’t be named in a suit. im talking about more of a civil liability than criminal too. if it were my forum, i would probably disallow it in order to minimize potential risk, whether fair or not.
i have noticed two mine and the 870 i dont think that is alot. as for liability it falls on the seller to be sure he knows who they are selling it to.
in the past i have gotten a photo copy of a DL when I sell a gun if it is someone I do not know, with both signatures and keep it for a certain amount of time.
edit I just noticed the 870 guy put up another one…
samuel l jackson “guns dont kill people, stupid mother fuckers with guns kill people”
dont you need some sort of permit or something to buy a gun…i know there is a check when you get a gun from a store,…but how does it work with private sellers?
as long as you dont have a criminal record anyone over 18 yrs old can buy a long gun aka shotguns and rifles… you need to be 21 and have a permit for pistols.
i dont see the big deal
i own 23 guns and some bought online, garage sales, swap meets, and ect
dont worry about the guns and hug a tree
State law requires people buying or otherwise obtaining ownership of a handgun at a gun store or through a private sale to possess a license, which requires applicants to go through a criminal background check. In addition, a background check is required on private sales of all firearms at gun shows. Private sales of rifles and shotguns at places other than gun shows, such as through newspaper advertisements, or the internet are not subject to a background check requirement.
You’d have a tough time suing the seller and pretty much an impossible time suing the site considering NYS law doesn’t require any kind of background check on a private gun sale for rifles and shotguns.
Thats NY for ya. Anything gun is a liability, ban it shut it down, get rid of it NIMBY. Guess what, in the bill of rights it says i can own a gun, and MANY people on this board do. If you don’t like the guns, then just ignore the gun threads. Me for one, kinda like mixing HP cars and guns in my morning conversation, makes me feel american.
