So I have a customer who is driving out to San Francisco with the RV attached to their vehicle and then ship it to Maui, Hawaii. I got them a quote of $8500 just to ship it there and to me thats outrageous.
Has anyone ever shipped something of this extreme/know anybody who could get me a cheaper cost?
Any help is appreciated, oh and for you LAFENGAS, when you asked if I was involved in the shipping of them, I am now!
Is the person who quoted you driving the thing there them self and flying back or is it actually being towed there on a truck? That is where most of the cost is going on top of the boat shipping from SF to HI. Hell, I would take off a week of work and go see people and drive it to San Fran and then put the thing on a boat to HI and charge an extra $2500 on top of all costs to get it there.
it seems pretty clear that it is from sf to maui. i think boxxa didn’t pay attention when he read and went off on his own little tangent, thus causing doubt in your mind.
I personally think $8500 is way outa line, but then again, its not like I ship these things everyday. I was just trying to get an idea, maybe guage the market a little bit and see what my options are.
If I tell my customer that $8500 is the cost, he will walk away from the deal.
I assume that 8500 is 1 way?? I also assume that it will need to come back. WOW. i work in the shipping business but we deal with skids and containers. I will ask our traffic dept.
nope just going out there. Their son lives there and they are buying this for him to live in to save costs of living at the moment. Eventually they will bring it back, but i think they are planning on selling out there before bring it back.
lol. just cut some holes in the bottom of the box for the wheels and pull up to the post office in a giant cardboard box. Im sure thatd be fine. Might cost ya an extra $2 for delivery confirmation though.
