Just curious about what car should I buy in September for less than 6,500 a hatchback Civic or 240, I’m focus on a car that’s reliable every day, low on gas, a car that I can invest on in tune ups than in repairs and parts. A winter beater, and cheap on insurence. I am going to be a college student, after the summer and I just want to get some input from any body sugguesting whether a Vtech or Ka24De. Since this is on a 240 forum I know 240’s are better race cars (drifting) than Civics(FF boo), not to be bias I just want some information from people out their and there opinions.
If you are buying something specifically for winter, why not consider something with AWD? I think a RWD car is about the worst choice for a winter car… I know you can learn to control it, but why take the risk? Get a pickup or a jeep or something…
If you plan on driving the car everyday even throughout the winter, I would definitely go with the civic because it will be a lot safer and less risky in the winter. Also, the civic has so much better gas mileage than a 240 and it will probably be about $20 - $25 for a full tank that would last you quite a while. Just get an intake and your mileage should be a little bit better as well lol. And yeah, parts are so damn cheap if you ever need them cause there’s like so much spare parts around, both stock and aftermarket. From what I have seen, civics are really reliable and great fuel economy cars.
The only con I would say is that the insurance will be more expensive than a 240 mainly because everyone (just exagerrating) drives a civic. I remember checking the price of insurance on a basic 4 door 1992 honda civic and then i checked the price of insurance for a 1992 240 and it was much cheaper. But I think the money you save on gas and parts will make up for that. Good luck
I REALLY enjoy my 240 in the winter, even though I totalled one in poor conditions. Nice snow tires (toyo G-02 observe) make all the difference in the world, Hicas, I found really helpful in snow and on ice. However there is a very good possiblility that matenance costs will be higher on an S13, and the suspensions usually are in need of replacing…I could go on, but its what your comfortable with.
Personnally I would perfer a 240 due to weight distribution (in snow), however I haven’t EVER driven a civic
