what should i do ,side mount or front mount

Im almost ready to do my sr swap and i was wondering what should i do.
I have a front mount intercooler from a skyline gtr

(i dont have the pipping, have to find somebody who can make it ),ill probably have to cut most of my bumper (wich im not too happy about),also relocate my battery in the trunk .

this one run the cold pipe underneath the battery, wich way is better
relocate the battery or run the pipe under the battery

Also this season will be the first one ill be drifting on the track with my car (pratice event)

So would it be more reasonable to run a side mount for this season, and save the trouble to cut my bumper, relocate my battery and have to find somebody who can makes piping, and wait for next season when ill have more skills.

Also:how much boost i can run with a side mount, how much hp will i have.

And how much will a side mount cost.

I want to buy a walbro pump from rav speed,i read on a forum somewhere :somebody asking rav speed if they had the kit with the longer filter, does it make a different, and if so,what difference

I want to get a 3 inch exhaust,downpipe and a turbo outlet.
I heard that its better to get a outlet with the separation in the middle, also a downpipe with a flexible like megan racing,is it true?

                         Thank you

should this even be a question?

Okay…

yes to the megan flexpipe, i’d get that.

yes to the turbo elbow

fmic or smic… if you’re on stock turbo, how much boost do you want to run? smic is a lot easier, but fmic does look better and people will know that you’re turbo. So that’s really your call. Fmic also cools the air better.

Haha, figures you would mention the looking cool part before actually stating its real purpose.

Anyways, if you are going to track your car in the summer alot then go with a FMIC, heatsoak happens very quickly on sidemounts.

Buy a kit will all the piping relocate your battery, its really not that hard and you’re good to go.

just so you know the skyline gtr Front mount IC will fit behind your stock rebar without having to cut it

i didnt read anything in your post but the answer is obvious

greater surface area = cooler intake air temp.

hey someone told me to stay away from walbro,is anybody had bad experience with there fuel pump ???

somebody wrote me :

stay away from walbro’s.

And watch the wastegate runner on that dump pipe. I installed one for a customer.
It was bloody shocking, HUGE lip on might as well not have a wastegate runner if its goign to be that bad

wastegate runner ???

you can get fmic kits that allow you to keep stock battery, they are tight fit, the piping goes though just behind the battery (apexi) if you got your piping costom it would be easy to keep standard battery i think.

like you said the piping in that pic is run under the battey but the battery is a smaller replacement.

if i where going to do it id consider aftermarket core and costom pipes to aviod moving battery.

Between the both of us, I think that we can agree that going Front mount for the looks is probably 70% of the reason why most people do it to begin with. (Especially if you’re new to turbo cars/engines)

Sure, it cools the air better and has less heatsoak. Most people won’t admit it but I know it has to do with looks. That’s why you see so many stock SR’s running 7 - 10psi with front mounts and they don’t even track their cars.

Call me an idiot but i’m sure that a lot of people agree with me on this.

fmic makes power too!

frees power… that u were restricting… :stuck_out_tongue:
