Well, season is just about over, and now that thats the case, we have some money left over from all of the membership fees that were paid. I don’t have the exact number, but Jared and I will go over things and post it up. It’s around the $400 range I beleive, but not completely sure.
But in the mean time, what do you think should be done with it? Have a party of some sort? Booze? Food? Pay for some sort of car event? Rent some Public facility? What?
There are many options, and many of you who should have an opinion on this as it IS your money, and I did promise that you would see a return on your little investment.
Just post up the ideas.
I wouldn’t mind a nice rumpshaker with keggers and texasmickeys and all. lol. But that sorta conflicts with the fact that we are a car club, and people usually drive to these meets lol.
I would be in agreement with some sort of function (get together). Invite our girlfriend/wifes out and meet one another. Just don’t bring the wife AND the girlfriend out, could get ugly!! LOL I’m also up to other ideas!!
If NECC is to become a proper registered non-profit organization we need to buy insurance (if you haven’t already), both for general event liability as well as Directors’ coverage (to protect the “Executive” from getting sued).
The club should also buy some accounting software and/or books so someone can start tracking the club’s cashflows and keep records for Revenue Canada. <-- This is important. The EZCC just went through major hassle over the last year. We were suddenly out of the blue asked to file tax returns for the last 10+ years of club business. Not fun.
Put the money in the bank for next year. It would be nice to have some of our own auto-x/drift events out at the base, that would be something to throw in for setup also. Cones, maybe timing equipment?
I know I want to hit up some legal drifting stuff next summer in Edmonton. 6 hours round trip to Calgary for a drift event is a little ridiculous.
autox and/or driftin would be awsome next summer. all we would need would be cones, timing equipment, food and nice weather. and somewhere big enough to do it all.
I also like the idea of saving for drift / auto-x events. Not that I can hold a drift with my FWD, but it would be great to watch you guys. And it would be a potential revenue generator since the nearest alternative is Calgary.
We could also get banners or placards made for the NECC booth at car shows.
I agree with cromedragon, it would be nice go out and just rip it up, and not have to look over your shoulder for cops. Even if something else comes up that the money is needed for then we should still try to organize something like that for next year. Ughh so far away.
