Man, the hateraid is flowing in here…
Come on guys, even the pro’s learned at some point in time by doing the obvious, making mistakes…
We should be encouraging people to do these things, only if they have the time, money and labor to invest in it. You never know, he could be the premier port dude
in a couple of years.
Remember people, you learn by doing, not by reading a book or anything else, most importantly, by making mistakes. Trying things that work, and occasionally taking two steps backwards.
JNJ, you can make an accurate flowbench at home. I am a mechanical engineer who used to design machines to do shit and build shit. All that flowbench is is a glorified way to push air through an orfice and measure what comes out, simple as that. If you try to build one yourself, it is the attention to details that is what’s going to make your home built machine accurate or not. The only thing that I can see that a homebuilt machine won’t do is measure the air flow velocity directions/turbulance, if the big machine even does that.
I am not in any way shape or form trying to knock that machine, I am just saying that someone at home could build a machine to do exactly the same thing, realistically, probably 90% as accurate as that thing with the attention to the details of building the machine.
Basically, I say encourage him, let him do his own thing. At least he is trying to do something, whereas most of us on here pay someone else to install their shit and call themselves “tuners”. It the people that get their hands dirty with their own car that are the real “tuners”. Let him do it, and let him learn by either succeeding, or making mistakes and finding out the hard way what not to do, or what to do.
