The tribe has spoken… Turbociv we need to talk some serious talk about fabricating some brackets for the 8.8 (I need them to run DR’s or I will blow my stock rear in .00001 milliseconds)
BECAUSE HEATERS.
put the 8.8 in and turn up the boost.
It really comes down o the driving experience desired. A 400rwhp is going to offer a much different(and IMO more fun) ride then a similar power 2.0L You know how sweet it is to be able to stab and steer blasting through turns and having the tq on tap. Its a blast! That is simply not going to happen on a 2.0L with a turbo even with a flat curve there will be a wait for it moment every time fun is to be had.
That said I would need a ride in the current car before I give a final opinion.
Agreed
Also with the 8.8 in there I bet we can get it to hook pretty well with the right great/tire combo.
Replace the rearend if it hasnt with the OEM or something similar. Lower the PSI so you dont blow out the rear again but still more power than stock. Then just have fun with the car. I think the rears should take about 300-350 before you are really causing stress to it.
How much power are you making to have traction issues and what tire are you on? My car put down 530/330 and would dead hook second gear rolls on 16 inch mickeys. Rear end never let go either then again I never launched it or even hit it in first gear. The car is rwd makes no torque and the powerband is made for traction if you can’t hook on a tire there is something wrong alignment suspension tire whatever.
Keep it and drive it be prepared for more shit to break as you keep turning it up.
Ps heaters are for fags there I said it.
This is all I have found NYspeed to be into now. No racing, no turning, just burnouts.
BURNOUTS=BORING, I say this all the time. Everyone can do a burn out, it takes no skill and gets old really fast. Also a really dumb way to waste tread/money.
I’m confused in stock form the torqueless S2000 is fun to throw around curves assuming your at the proper RPM.
A properly sized turbo with compliment the stock torque curve…
If you don’t need to make 700rwhp you can go with much smaller turbo and get much quicker spooling and it will be a better all around car.
What was MrSmith running for a rear end in his car? I thought it was pretty much stock and he was doing fine.
You also never mentioned what your goals are you want to roll race? drag race? or just have all around fun car to cruise.
Edit:
:word:
Stock, they have almost enough to spin them at a dead stop. They are really light in the ass end. Adding just 100hp will cause the tires to spin really easy. I have stock with 17x8 rims/tires.
You realize he had a S2000 with 500rwhp?
yeah and?
Well your comment about it spinning tires stock…
He just said with drag radials his would hook no issues…
I’m not understanding what point you were making
MrSmith has the most real world experience with turbo s2000s compared to everyone else in the thread.
Line locks going in this winter.
MrSmith commented on the thread asking what kind of power he was putting down to have traction issues. I was saying how the car is light weight in the rear, I have 8" wide street tires and spin with having no torque, that would indicate that add 300hp would create a hell of a time trying to get traction with a s2000 regardless of tires.
edit: and didnt realize MrSmith was the s2k go to guy.
I blew my stock rear end with the power I am at now but I have launched it a zillion times. On my old s2000 I also blew the rear and that was completly stock. As for tires I had Falken Azenis 255-45-17s on the rear and still had traction issues even at 90ish mph…ask Gennaro lol. I do realize that some of my problems will be fixed with the right tires (drag radials)
As for goals with the car I am looking for a fun all around car which I know is almost impossible to ask for but I would love to play at the strip next year and still cruise the twisties with ease.

Car is making 538/340 right now.
actually, we’re into alot more then just burnouts. but rolling heaters that you can initiate by just putting the gas pedal to the floor and be sideways at 30? thats pretty damn fun. and since when is spending money on tires a concern when it comes to a car that is a toy that is at higher then factory power levels? its a given that youll be going through tires lol
going through tires drifting a turn/racing around a track/drag racing and having to burn out before… yes, thats fun… burnouts for no real reason than to just burn out… boring and a waste of money.
im sorry, but i just dont understand your logic here. every once in a while when im just out driving around i have the urge to go sideways through this empty intersection, or spin em around that corner. same idea as when i pull into a snow covered parking lot with lots of open space…instant drift mode.:dunno:
I have faith that 2013 will bring a racing renaissance.
Ah very good. Burn the car down put a huge payment on your house.
That has 100% more to do with the fact that anyone running around with the US Spec alignment is asking for issues. 95% of S2k’s have shit alignments on them that cause a serious amount of toe out on acceleration.
