I have a Canon 300d (6.3mp) with a kit lens (18-55 f3.5), the 50mm 1.8 and two junky sigma zooms. A remote shutter release and a terrible sunpak tripod. I stuff all this crap in my northface backpack and haul it all over the place. I would love newer/nicer gear but just don’t have the money right now. At least I wouldn’t be heart broken if something happened to any of my current equipment.

Icon, if you’re wondering what kind of gear to get next I would highly recommend a prime lens. My 50mm is on my camera 99% of the time. You get used to “zooming” by actually moving your self and it really makes you think more about composing your shot. Besides that the sharpness of some primes is ridiculous. I’m not a Nikon guy but I thought they had a nice 50mm prime as well that can be had for a reasonable price.

Not happy with the D3100. Overheats when shooting in sun and it developed a dead pixel six months into ownership. Not a big deal for photos, but ruins any videos.
