01 and 02 had the ls6 intakes. 02 didnt have EGR and known to be factory freaks. 98 is a bastard child but all of them are good solid runners. with good driver and tires they can hit 12s basically stock or stock. with cam and bolt ons you can see 11s if pushed hard enough

so pretty much tell him if he has the extra $$$ to splurge on a 02. If he gets on i’ll be sure to recommend jj’s for all of hid performance needs.

best year car to come with LS1 would have to be the 99 C5 FRC vettes…
those cars are hot!! and fast… fixed roof coupe… looks Z06 like but not Ls6.

um best year is 99… why you ask. because i have one.

other then that reason 01-02 is best.

In addition to the above -

98’s have the auburn posis and 99+ have torsens. It doesn’t take long for an LS1 to kill an auburn. torsen is slightly better.

also, if he’s just looking for an LS1, tell him to look for a camaro…they seem to be going WAY cheaper than T/A’s… dunno about Formulas

+get a 99-00 cause their cheaper,$$ he save will get him more mods & faster than o1-02!

Interesting. That is the first I’ve heard this. Where could this information be confirmed (e.g. I can show it to a tech inspector and it has GM written on it)? The reason I ask is that I plan to buy an LS1 for my daily driver once I kill my current daily driver. Once I get the car, I plan to set it up for F-Stock class autocross and want to buy a car that would be legal with a torsen. As the rules are written today, a torsen is legal in a 99 but not a 98.

…off to Mid Ohio… I hope I come home with a trophy or 2.

were it can be confirmed is at JJs. with all the fbodys taken in and you can take a look at the diffs if you wish. it seems to be early 99s still had the auburns
