Whats the deal here, thread locked due to car sale info

like seriously mods whats up yours, we post info about cars weve seen so other dont waist there time and money to see it and you guys lock these informative threads, i dunno about you but if i was going to see a car and i saw a post about it being a lemon i wouldnt waist my time, anyways good job.

the reason for a mod locking the thread was the duality of info and questioning whether they should be in the buy / sell section since no one here is buying or selling the car.

we’re thinking maybe starting a single thread in another section for this type of thing, because yes the information may be valid to some, but posting up every single car people go to take a look at is prolly not necessary.

perhaps some sort of formatted reply would be a better idea?

suggestions?

maybe a sticky in the buy/sell section labelled “Cars NOT to buy”

ok I looked at the car for about 5 mins. Its a solid winter car, but nothing anyone will want for track use. Frame isn’t all that bad, hatch is toast, doors could do with replacomg, but I don’t know whats holding in the windshield lol.

And yes, maybe a sticky somewhere of cars not to buy. I don’t want to see any newbs get ripped off.

Andrew.

P.S. original drift master gets 1 point of trust from me

*waste
not waist

sorry, didn’t know I coudln’t post it

I was looking soo foward of purchasing it… and my friend saved my life, welll money :expressionless:

I just had to post it b/c the drive is soo not worth it

edit: the guy woudln’t even take my 1k cash up front

gave me a min of only 1.1 - 1.2k !

sticky thread would be a good idea.

i personally think GT GREG is a bit too reliant on his “close thread” button, but that’s another discussion for another time.

well you just started it.
Greg is only mod thats cold and has balls. he gets the job done. PM him or talk to him on MSN and he’ll open the thread up if you tell him you’ll clean up what it is you posted. There are too many softies like you on the boards complaining. Suck it up, don’t post BS and you’ll be fine and so will the boards.

Bing or Greg break this off into a discussion. its been started now might as well follow thro.

Andrew.

I agree that its usefull having a thread(or even multiple threads) for cars that have been checcked out. I would rather not waste my time going to see a car that 10 other have seen and found to be crap. IF its a good car chances are that the person who sees it will buy it.

Just to add my $0.02.

The light blue 1993 240 in auto trader for $2995 is crap. Paint job is shotty and starting to peel in corners. The frame is rusted to crap. The list goes on with that car. The mechanic that has that also has a 1990 black. Paint looked OK onmy brief check - but the frame was rusted through.

That is why a sticky on this buy/sell thread would be useful, and there should be a set of rules on what you can/cannot post on it. Ie. no chatter, like we are doing on this thread, cuz as soon as a mod sees this post right here, it’s getting locked for sure(just watch, wait till Marc has a look).

Since this is all opinion based, obviously, not all things said will be taken into full consideration and you won’t be able to say “this car sucks, cuz it sucks”.

A good idea, would be posting problems you saw with the car, and explaining why it didn’t appeal to you, since all people have diffrent taste and expections in cars. Like, “I didn’t buy the car because it had a home made wooden triple decker wing, and it looked like ass, and wasn’t a good job.”

clean up what i posted? what did i post that needs cleaning up exactly? because i’m pretty sure i didn’t even post in either of those threads.

and since when am i a softie who complains? that’s probably the first time i’ve ever said anything, and it wasn’t a complaint it was merely a comment.

lighten up.

i told you so :stuck_out_tongue: hahah anyways guys im glad i started something useful for once and the sticky is a good idea.

i do what i have to and DO NOT rely on the “close thread” button.

as andrew stated anyone can catch me on msn or via pm to clear up any issues or to make comments/

i really dont mind at all and im never harsh in responding.

thanks
