I’ve mostly always gone to tirerack unless I wanted something they didn’t carry. Their shipping prices have gone way up since I last bought tires and I’m not sure its a great deal anymore. Discount tire doesn’t have the right sizes or tires. Any experience with local dealers beating online prices? At first glance Dunn’s out-the-door price seems pretty competitive.
Swerve is where I have gotten my last few sets.
What are you looking for. I have a hookup with a local supplier.
Basil Tires is supposed to be able to match or beat Tire Rack on most tires, but they haven’t really plugged much on here yet.
im looking for some 235/45/17 winter tires for my TL let me know who finds what.
same. last time i bought tires was swerve. didn’t compare prices though. but i’m okay with supporting a local business.
tread city tire in NT is my first choice. Don will take care of you.
Go with swerve if you need the touchless tire mounting tho, I hear nothing but A + reviews on them never scratching wheels.
this is true, I had my girlfriends tires mounted there just after refinished them(pink bbs with polished lips… Hand polishing 20 year old lips sucks), and they did a great job.
I bought my summer tires from them. Great customer service, and they even come to your home or office with a truck to mount and balance your tires. You get free rotations for life too.
Road hazard comes on all of their tires, and I’m pretty sure that the price was pretty close to what I would have paid at tire rack if you count shipping.
I would recommend Tread City.
The majority of my tires are from discount tire direct. Mounting by Swerve (A+), except when I feel like having center caps destroyed and glued back onto my rim in which case I go to Licatas.
Discount Tire Direct / Tire Rack / Vulcan Tire / Ebay
I honestly fail to see any form of savings with Tire Rack. The price looks great then you factor in shipping, and having to get them mounted, and it ends up being more work for no savings, often times more expensive. I use Tread City, been going through them for Hakka’s since Carmen was working there and he passed about 3 years ago.
Something I’ve always wondered:
Who does cheap mounting/balancing? If you didn’t buy the tires there. Anyone still around that does it super cheap? Like $10/tire?
Anyone able to procure Continental ExtremeContact DW tires in 225/40-18? Don?
Seems like they are back ordered through the normal vendors.
By the way guys, Tread City just opened up a new location on Genesee in Cheektovegas. This makes me a very happy camper as going out to NT was always a trek for me.
Walmart. But I wouldn’t trust any rims I liked to them. I’ll probably have my new snows swapped onto my winter rims there because I just don’t give a shit and it’s super convenient to toss them in the back of the suv and have them done while the wife is shopping.
I’ll check out Swerve, Basil and Tread City the next time I need a set but in the past discount tire’s no tax + free shipping made it impossible for the locals to compete. Over $50 in tax right off the top for a $600 set of tires.
i bought my last set from Vulcan which were my snows…Swerve mounted them…
My rims are pretty nasty, I bought them that way so maybe I’ll just take 'em there. Thanks Jay.
discount tire would be a win but its weird, they don’t even list a bunch of sizes in common tires.
Just found this online. It’s Wal-Mart’s prices for mounting and balancing and whatnot. Looks like $11.50/tire.
