Where could I get something like this sharpened?

My ex’s brother sent me back these little swords from japan but they are not sharpened. Im not sure if they are able to be sharpened at all, due to the graphic on the side.

Idea’s?

Yikes thats not cheap

What steel are they? Hand folded forged stuff or just basic extruded and ground 440 stainless display stuff? Most of the display blades are stamped(stainless" or something similar somewhere, plus you can typically tell by the grain and hamon if it was handmade. I see no hamon on the blade, so i’d suspect it’s just a 440 blade. If there is one that’s faint and looks symmetrical, it’s another sigh of machine made.

I only say all the above because I have a few folded swords in collection here that I’ve sharpened on the stones. If it’s a stainless blade you can sharpen with any off the shelf arkansas stone and some basic oil, just get some different grits. If it’s a folded blade, you’ll want to take more caution and time with it, or give to a shop or me to sharpen.

lowes has grinders on sale lol

i will almost guarentee its not folded forged. haha

they come dull like that for a reason, because they are for show and meant to be in a case or on wall.

BUT, if you really want to sharpen it, break out the grinder haha

Yeah, that’s what I figured. I haven’t had a chance to check if they are stamped or not. I figured it’d just be something fun to fuck around with
