Where to get a good cheap burger?

I wouldn’t call it cheap, but EBC’s kobe truffle burger is amazing.

I still think Cole’s has the best burgers in the city.

Now I want beef.

Hit up Five Guys for lunch today. It’s not my favorite but for a “better than fast food burger but still kinda sleazy” it’s damn good. Plus the cajun fries are perfect.

Vizzy’s I think makes a really solid burger. Don’t think it’d be my number 1, but it’s definitely a great burger, cheap(er). Still love wolfing down 5 Guys, Charlie the Butcher makes some damn good burgers.

I make my own burgers at home and keep them simple.
1lb of 80/20 beef (I think 80/20 is mandatory to get a juicy burger. Lower Fat ones dry out)
1/2 Cup Seasoned Bread Crumbs
1 Egg
1/4 Tbsp Salt
1/8 Tbsp Pepper
(optionally diced onion or peppers)

Cook on Medium heat 8min per side. Should be 2-3 flips at most. I’ve found that using refrigerated, cold meat works better at preventing insane flare ups as opposed to meat that’s been out thawing on the counter and may not be cold.

I started with blends until I realized I live alone and was going to die at 30 if I kept it up and now I can’t deal with the supermarket stuff. I started keeping some dry aged trimmings of my steaks and grinding them up. Also using some sirloin, brisket, shoulder blends.

Yeah, but the chances of the new owners not doing something different and messing up the best burger in Buffalo are pretty slim.

I would think a smart investor would rest on past laurels and not change a god damn thing…

I know it’s not around here but I went to In n Out in Vegas over the weekend and holy shit it was delicious.

Had one from Coles the other day and it was awful, I’d always had great experiences there in the past.

Went to Big Ditch Brewery a few days later though, and was blown away. It was $12, but well worth it. The fries were great as well and you get a ton. Great beer, split a flight with the ol lady.

ABV (Allen Burger Venture) is also great, has a nice variety, and is a bit pricey. Also great beer selection

The Friars Table is a great example. That place had the best prime rib short of taking the drive out to Red Osier. Changed owners, new owners thought they’d bring in more business/profits with changes and within a year it went bust. Happens a lot when popular places change hands. Always someone who thinks they can do it better.
